Studio Gang @studiogang has completed the new Samuel H. Scripps Theater Center for Hudson Valley Shakespeare @hvshakespeare , giving the company its first permanent home after decades of performances under a seasonal tent. 🎭 Set within a 98-acre landscape overlooking the Hudson River, the six-year project combines an open-air theater with rehearsal, education, and public gathering spaces as part of a broader campus master plan developed with Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects @nelsonbyrdwoltz . At the center of the project is a 451-seat theater sheltered beneath a sweeping timber gridshell designed to frame views of the Hudson Highlands beyond the stage. The campus also introduces restored wetlands and meadows, new public pathways and picnic areas, rooftop solar panels, rainwater harvesting systems, and low-carbon mass timber construction. If awarded LEED Platinum certification, the project would become the first purpose-built open-air theater in the United States to receive the designation. 📸 Jason O'Rear @jasonorear #Archinect #ArchinectProjects #Architecture #NewYorkArchitecture #StudioGang

Frank Gehry's playful sculptural creations will once again take the spotlight this spring: Opening tomorrow at Gagosian’s Beverly Hills gallery, the show "Frank Gehry" revisits the late architect’s artistic practice through a lively collection of animal sculptures, experimental objects, and expressive drawings — the first exhibition of his work since his passing in 2025. Developed with Gehry’s studio and family, the show offers a more intimate look at the creative instincts behind one of architecture’s most recognizable figures. The exhibition includes stainless-steel bears, papier-mâché snake lamps, crocodile sculptures, and Gehry’s ever-present fish motifs, which also surfaced throughout projects like Walt Disney Concert Hall and the soon-to-open Guggenheim Abu Dhabi. A video installation featuring Esperanza Spalding and Gustavo Dudamel further underscores how fluidly Gehry moved between art, architecture, performance, and experimentation throughout his career. The exhibition runs through June 27. 📸 1: Frank Gehry. Untitled (London I), 2013. SOM @skidmoreowingsmerrill has revealed updated details for 175 Park Avenue, the 1,581-foot mixed-use supertall planned beside Grand Central Terminal in Midtown Manhattan. Developed by RXR Realty and TF Cornerstone, the tower would replace the existing Grand Hyatt hotel with a new office-and-hotel complex shaped by a steel lattice structure that culminates in an interlaced crown. Recently approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission, the project references nearby Art Deco icons, including the Chrysler Building, through a series of stepped setbacks and landscaped terraces. The design also incorporates expanded public space and transit infrastructure, including a new transit hall connected to subway, Metro-North, and Long Island Rail Road services, alongside widened sidewalks and elevated outdoor terraces around the tower base. 🖼️ SOM, Boundary, Miysis SPRL #Archinect #ArchinectProjects #Architecture #NewYorkArchitecture #175parkavenue

In Suzhou’s historic Taohuawu district, Wutopia Lab @wutopia.lab has transformed a former silk weaving factory into the new Verdant Ridges Theater, a project that merges adaptive reuse with theatrical storytelling. Inspired by the life and paintings of Ming dynasty artist Tang Bohu, the design reimagines the existing industrial structure as a layered landscape of green-toned metal forms, textured interiors, and immersive stage spaces. Rather than choosing between strict preservation or total reinvention, the project pursues what Wutopia Lab describes as a “third approach.” A new mountain-like envelope wraps the renovated building, while monochrome interiors reference ink-wash painting traditions and an experimental I-shaped stage blurs the boundaries between audience, performer, history, and architecture. 📸 LIU Guowei @dailyliuguowei #Archinect #ArchinectProjects #Architecture #ChineseArchitecture #AdaptiveReuse

German digital artist Richard Nadler @dernadler sees AI not as a shortcut but as a collaborator. We spoke with him about the tension between authorship and automation, the enduring value of human intuition in digital practice, and why meaningful AI art still demands patience and craft. "What I'm always looking for is the moment a building stops being infrastructure and becomes a stage for being human together — or alone, in plain sight," he tells us. 🔗 Read the conversation on Archinect: archinect.com/features/article/150539559/richard-nadler-s-mesmerizing-ai-generated-worlds-turn-architecture-into-living-art 🖼️ Cover: Vertical Societies, Tower No. 1. Set within the Santa Lucia Preserve between Carmel and Big Sur, this 28-acre retreat by Feldman Architecture @feldmanarchitecture with Ground Studio Landscape Architecture @groundstudiolandscape reinterprets the atmosphere of the Tuscan countryside through a contemporary California lens. Four detached stone pavilions are positioned along a ridge-top clearing, balancing expansive views with a lighter footprint on the landscape. Guided by site and climate studies, the design uses thick granite walls, shaded overhangs, breezeways, and native landscaping to respond to the region’s terrain and weather patterns. Local stone, reclaimed teak, and a network of courtyards and pathways reinforce the project’s tactile connection to its surroundings. 📸 Joe Fletcher @joefletcherphoto #Archinect #ArchinectProjects #Architecture #CaliforniaArchitecture #ResidentialArchitecture

Kehai House in Morelia, Mexico, a deeply introspective residence designed by HW Studio @hwstudioarq , is organized around an internal stone garden that functions as the home’s spatial and conceptual center. Designed as the architect’s own residence, the project embraces restraint and emptiness as architectural devices, drawing from Japanese spatial philosophy while maintaining the firm’s characteristic material austerity. From the street, the house appears almost monolithic. Inside, however, living spaces unfold around the open-air courtyard, requiring occupants to move through the elements as part of daily life. Shoji-inspired partitions soften daylight throughout interiors finished in wood, gravel, and paper, while carefully framed openings focus attention on vegetation, distant mountains, and a single central tree. The result feels less like a conventional residence and more like an exercise in atmosphere, silence, and calibrated spatial experience. 📸 Gustavo Quiroz @gustavoquirozfoto , César Béjar @cesarbejarstudio #Archinect #ArchinectProjects #Architecture #MexicanArchitecture #JapaneseArchitecture
