Join us for ICA LA’s annual Spring Benefit on Sunday, May 17 at the studio of Los Angeles based artists The Haas Brothers (@thehaasbrothers ). Bringing together artists, patrons, and friends of the museum, the Spring Benefit is a memorable celebration of the ICA LA community. The evening offers an intimate look inside the Haas Brothers’ new studio, designed by Chet Architecture (@chet__arch ), including a studio visit with ICA LA Executive Director Anne Ellegood (@anneellegood ), dinner by Jon & Vinny’s (@jonandvinnydelivery ) featuring a special collaboration with the Haas Brothers, and specialty cocktails by Madre Mezcal (@madremezcal ). Presented by Sam First Jazz Club (@samfirstbar ), entertainment for the evening will include the Sasha Berliner Trio, led by vibraphonist Sasha Berliner (@sashaberliner ), performed alongside Emma Dayhuff (@emmakday ) and Anthony Fung (@anthonyfungmusic ). All funds raised from the Spring Benefit directly support ICA LA’s exhibitions and Learning & Engagement programs, which provide free access to groundbreaking art and education initiatives. The surf bath in our Beach Cottage project might be the most honest room in the house. Once a purely utilitarian outdoor bathroom, it’s now a place to rinse off the sea and linger a little longer than planned. Custom @tajimicustomtiles tiles crowned with candy-colored @vola.denmark fixtures carve the space into sculptural moments, separating sink, shower, and, yes, a urinal, in ways that feel playful and unexpected. This is a family home, but it’s also a space for freedom, humor, and a bit of irreverence. Architecture doesn’t always have to behave. Sometimes it gets to wink. Meet Chet, principal of Chet Architecture Our studio was built around a simple idea: Good design starts with listening (and asking good questions). Chet’s approach to architecture blends a deep respect for history, with a curiosity for the present, shaping spaces that feel grounded, personal, and with a dash of the playful. From our Los Angeles studio, located in the progressive east side community of Los Feliz, we work closely with our clients to create thoughtful, innovative spaces rooted in context and open to experimentation. Every project is centered on the people who will live, work, and play in their spaces, because design should feel intuitive. To our new followers, we are excited to have you here, to share our journey with you. Welcome to Chet Architecture.

I’m thrilled to finally share our Ventura, California, beach house project on the pages of Architectural Digest! This home is the result of deep collaboration, my family’s lived experiences on this magical stretch of coastline, and the community that we have built around it. What began as a modest surf cottage slowly evolved into a deeply personal retreat shaped by memory, landscape, and our love of color, craft, and California coastal living. We were drawn not only to the ocean-facing moments, but also to the quieter spaces: the courtyards and cozy nooks that create intimacy and shelter. Big views, yes. But also spaces to tuck in. Endless gratitude to our incredible collaborators: @olivermfurth for interiors that are joyful and layered; @studio_pappaterra for a landscape rooted in the Central Coast; and Casey Burman for bringing it together with such care. Thank you to @archdigest , @amyastley , and @mayer.rus for championing this project, and to @yoshihiromakino for capturing it so beautifully. A special thank you to @theculturecreative for their unyielding enthusiasm throughout this project. At its core, this is a house about family, leisure, surfing, and healthy mischief. As the year comes to a close, we’re feeling especially grateful for the clients and collaborators who trusted us with their ideas and welcomed us into their projects. It’s a privilege to do this work together. Our team is taking a short winter pause to rest, recharge, and spend time with loved ones.
