Opening night of our new @worcesterartmuseum American Galleries renovation and reinstallation! @tskp_ikd acted as the architect, exhibition, and graphic designer to restore and transform four historic spaces showcasing more than 130 works of art representing a diverse range of artists, media, styles, and stories. Over the last 14 years we have been collaborating with the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum acting as their “house doctor architect and designer” working in both the addition and existing palace on a wide range of project including facade upgrades, office renovations, public facing visitor services space upgrades, bathroom upgrades, FFE selection and exhibitions. Just recently, @tskp_ikd completed a first floor masterplan study and from that implemented a new wayfinding system that rethinks the entire public experienced upon entry and addresses issues related to their ever growing attendance. Our @worcesterartmuseum and @higginsarmory Arms and Armor renovation project. A 5,000 sqft two gallery renovation that is the new home of the 2nd largest Arms and Armor collection in the entire United States displaying over 1,000 objects. Inspired by the central display of Armor from around the world, the design’s innovative presentation features a multiple cultural arch display wall, a custom lighting element made of mail, hands on interactives, and a flexible multi layer open storage display with sliding panels to allow for curated moments amongst the backdrop of the vast collection. Project scope included full building systems replacement and envelope upgrade to meet the stringent conservation requirements to protect the collection. Initial gallery installation photos from the opening of our How Can You Forget Me: Filipino American Stories exhibition project presented by @smithsonianapa and located at @amhistorymuseum . The exhibition explores the overlooked history of a trailblazing Filipino community in California from the 1910s to the 1970s through twenty-six steamer trunks. Inspired by vintage folded postcards, the articulated walls unify the separate spaces and casework into an immersive and transformational visitor experience.
