still floating after last week’s gathering at Joe’s Pub. thank you to all who were able to come and witness “otherland: a seedling”. here’s one of my favorite moments of the ritual - “queer+quiet” with my siblings beside me. movement choreographed by @mmmlloyd and vocal harmonies arranged and directed by @sound.emeraldeath . with @thebasschica keeping us grounded with the upright. in this moment of collective grief, it’s been incredible to create with this circle of celestial collaborators to carve out a space to heal. to be in harmony and alignment with one another and this earth. together is the only way through. we’ve got one more showing of this 3 part seedling series (likely Fall 2023) but it’s just the beginning. keep an eye out for other otherland offerings - workshops, screenings, releases. we’re also working to begin the recording process for album #2 this year. stay tuned ✨ 📸: @ashnimusic 🎤: @arinmaya @ho_jen @laurenkellybenson

This past month has been full of growth, community and joy. So much happened in a short period of time and I’m still processing the fullness of it all. For now, a few highlights. 1) made my @lincolncenter debut with dear friends on stage and in the audience. The moon was full and the energy was so loving. 📸: @qbertplaya . 2) video clip of Whole Again. w/ vocal arrangements by @julierbrown79 . A gorgeous hummingbird guitar on loan from @gibsonguitar thanks to @celissemusic . Full livestream of the performance available in bio link. 3) taking in the powerful words of @qween_jean at the @brooklynliberation rally to celebrate and advocate for Black Trans Womxn and Trans youth. 4) made my TV debut on the @todayshow to discuss the importance of LGBTQIA+ representation. Had an on air surprise when @alroker announced that @stefanalxndr , @st3llapop and I are winners of the @musicforward LGBTQ+ Emerging Artists Award (applications are open until July 2nd). 5) Had the honor to be a part of such a tender yet fierce gathering of artists, organizers and community to celebrate the unveiling of @jessxsnow ’s Chinatown portal into a safe and liberated world. Big thanks to @wowprojectnyc and @drzzl of @smithsonianapa for making this possible. 6) A brilliant spectrum of color in the sunset on Pride weekend by Christopher Pier. Shared with @priscachoe and my sunset chasing boo @bretony . 7) a moment with the moon and @truthbachman , biking back to Brooklyn after witnessing the incredible performance that our fellow @joespub Working Group classmate @migguelanggelo put on at @lincolncenter .

this summer was one for the books.. still coming back to earth after a few extraordinary moments that i’ll cherish as the nights begin to surpass the days. - had the honor of returning to the glorious @briccelebratebrooklyn stage with dear friends opening for the Wallflowers. w: vocal direction by @sound.emeraldearth and movement direction by @mmmlloyd - rhythm in nature residency w/ @susie.ibarra up at @ps21chatham reawakened my spirit. here we captured field recordings of the river and birdsongs, conjured storms with the kulintang and took part in the multi-ensemble world premiere of Four Meditations on Impermanence. - took part in a residency with @jessxsnow at UCSB to develop and present a “Another Land in the Sky” a hybrid performance with poetry, music, film screening and q+a. forgot to take pictures of the residency but here is the sky - spent 2 weeks in residency with dear collaborators to dive deeper into the ritual of “otherland” with Brooklyn College and the Public Theater. - did a special “silent disco” sun set w/ @mcgolricknights at one of my favorite spots in the city these experiences helpd me return to my body for the first time after floating + dissociated for years. im trying to walk into this next season unafraid of my darkness and using the space to integrate all that was learned. bringing all this energy and then some to our final presentation of “otherland: a seedling” 10.26 at @joespub at 7pm. find your seat in the b i o l i n k. _____ 📸: slides 1-3 @qbertplaya slides 4-6 @lienstagramm slide 7 @jessxsnow slide 9 @kakigram

𝑰 𝑾𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒂 𝑩𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒌𝒚 🐉 is streaming exclusively on @criterioncollection channel as part of a collection of my shorts. Taking place in a present-day world of Chinese exclusion, @joecar.hanna and I play artists hiding a dangerous secret as we exchange a stick-and-poke tattoo. Made with a shoestring budget, and a small but mighty skeleton crew—this film was an experiment in slice-of-life independent filmmaking filled with a touch of the fantastical and lot of brooding heart. 🎞️❤️‍🩹 Thank you @neworleansfilmsociety @phillyaaff @vcmediaorg @cinespeak for showcasing the film 🫶 Co-Directors: @traciakemi1 & me Producer: @grocpot Cinematographer: @_eileeny_ Co-star & original song: @joecar.hanna Editor: @andrew.migliori Original Score: @treyalam Production company: @ozuwasright 🐉illustration & animation: @jeremyaleung Sound design & foley: @sitr_zhang Re-recording Mix: @su.zhoou VFX: @douglasstichbury Additional editing: @prehistoricjerk Colorist: @stephopho @raremedium.tv HMU: @r0seandth0rn Production Sound mixer: @andreas.nicholas Gaffer: @anika.e.g Associate producers: @eslvis @kalyban Executive producer: @culturestrike - Beyond Status Translators: @hanyumeng.nyc @eris_the_wanderer Funding: @tischcreativeresearch

NYC y’all better do the right thing and vote in @zohrankmamdani , @jumaane.williams and everyone under the @workingfamilies line tomorrow. i write to you weary from the weight of solo caregiving for a parent whose mind and body are unraveling with Parkinson’s, dementia and over 20 falls since last April. time that should be spent tending to our health is instead spent fighting insurance companies, and trying to navigate the disaster that is our health care system and VA during a government shutdown. the past decade of deep grief on both a personal and collective level has revealed the extent of our government’s moral destitution. lining the pockets of a few, pouring money into endless war and destruction while cutting programs that sustain life is not new, but the extremes are pushing so many beyond a breaking point. this suffering is preventable. here are some clips from the New York is Not For Sale rally with @berniesanders , @aoc and 13,000 new yorkers. it is in these collective moments of joy and envisioning a future of care for all that keep my spirit going. no movement is meant to weigh on any individual’s shoulders, and the ways that Mamdani and his team have galvanized so many who are working to build a more affordable New York are deeply inspiring. may we have a mayor that will fight for and with us. may the momentum echo far beyond this city and carry us through the morning. _____ slide 1: 🎥 @nogophoto . yours truly singing a RRC added verse to Florence Reece’s “Which Side Are You On” w/ @resistancerevivalchorus and 🔥 from @redbaraat @iamsonnysingh slide 2-4: habibis slide 5: 📸 @syedyaqeen . a cropped photo inaugurating Brad Lander as an honorary tenor

My Dearest, Beloved Community in NYC, I want to invite you all to arrive for a most blessed occasion, @elpuentepresente ¡WEPA! FESTIVAL! This joyous gathering has been put on hold the past two years, two years ago because of a flooding, and last year with major organizational shifts, we decided to take another year of pause. And then, as we entered into the summer, the threats to our organization became very real, and the possibility of having WEPA again decreased. With tremendous cuts and funding, and the loss of so many staff we were in a state of challenge with whether or not, we should still move forward with this event. Our organization continues to face threat of maintaining our place and space in community, you don’t pay attention And so we made the calls to our community and every single individual and group that we welcomed into space who have continued to build with us and and invest in relationship exchange with our community, as our community said “We will be there.” And we welcome you all to this day, a festival created from the grass roots, built off the strength of community, volunteering, offering their time, energy talents, and life force to bring our people together, for a day of celebration, of uplifting our cultures, of being united voice and body, and proclaiming our right to self determination and our right to continue to fight and love forward together for the liberation of our people and Earth. I pray you all will arrive and fill the space with the vibration of our people! Bring your whole family and join us in gathering in the energy of Defend! ¡Pa’lante! In a time when we’re facing our communities being threatened in mass, and our work toward liberation being challenged by an administration that means to undo the work of our movement legacies and attack our people fighting for our lives in mass through the systems they built that have always meant to oppress us - ¡WEPA! Festival invites us all to rise fiercely, together and be in unapologetic celebration of our lives! There will be so much gratitudes to be paid again and again for every individual that is giving to bring this gathering to reality. Join us 9-27-25 Rain or Shine!

10 years since you returned to the oceans. free at last from a body that betrayed you for decades. your stubborn spirit insistent on staying joyfully on this earth despite all the challenges that met you here. you loved as fully as you knew possible. our love was complex and i've spent the last decade unraveling knots and soothing wounds that kept me from feeling the prayers you protected my path with. the second slide captures a culmination of this love: words you wrote for dad to celebrate 40 years of sickness and health; set to music made possible through hours of driving me to music lessons; witnessed by a community cultivated through care and carrot cakes. this was the last song i wrote before the grief disconnected me from the source for years. but they're starting to return again. i miss you dearly and i'm certain dad does too. watch over us as he returns to you.

We’re closing out the final season of Chinatown Night Market with one last celebration on FRIDAY, August 15* 8-11:30pm at Forsyth Plaza. (*weather permitting) With much joy, we are announcing our final Night Market perfomer — treya lam, a multi-instrumentalist and composer with a voice that will move you. Welcoming treya back to our stage on Forsyth Plaza will be a sweet full circle moment as they were the first performer for our stage in 2021. It will be the perfect ending for our Night Market chapter. We hope you will join us. Expect the same magic you’ve come to love: folk artists, handmade goods, and a curated mix of local food vendors and musicians, all under the Manhattan Bridge. This is your last chance to experience the Night Market as we know it. 🔗 Chinatown Night Market is presented by Think!Chinatown in partnership with @aafenyc and produced with support from @ddp_studio , @buro_happold , @friedfrank and @leroystreetstudio . This community event is made possible with the financial support of Council Member @chrismartenyc , @trinitychurchnyc , @aafenyc , @redcnyc , and @sendchinatownlove .
