Thank you for organizing and creating! When we stand together, our voices are louder. We are creating a new narrative. What began last fall as a spark continues to grow into a national movement of artists and cultural institutions refusing to be silenced. Every new city, venue, classroom, gallery, stage, and public square strengthens what we are building together. To everyone who made May Day a celebration of solidarity, thank you. Now let’s continue reaching out and inspiring even more artists and institutions to stand up to fascism. Let’s continue to organize, create, and make visible the communities and voices under attack. Let’s bring more art into public life and build solidarity where we are. The next national activation: October 2–3. Registration opens soon. Stay tuned. #FallOfFreedom #ArtMatters #ArtAndResistance #Solidarity

In 2025, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security launched unprecedented anti-immigrant enforcement operations flooding major cities with ICE agents, building new detention facilities, and ultimately deploying 4,000 agents to Minneapolis–St. Paul in what became the largest immigration enforcement operation in U.S. history. Communities fought back: organizing rapid-response networks, mutual aid, and massive protests to protect their neighbors. In collaboration with @falloffreedom , we created a teaching tool documenting both the psychological terror inflicted on Minneapolis–St. Paul communities and the remarkable humanity of neighbors who refused to let fear win. K–12 students are invited to submit a collage envisioning unity, solidarity, and community care. Selected works will be exhibited to the public during Fall of Freedom’s October activations nationwide. Youth artists, we want your Blueprints for Love. This May Day, we remember that the fight for dignity, safety, and the right to exist without fear is not new and we know whose side we are on. Join Fall of Freedom’s May 1st activation and communities gathering nationwide for performances, screenings, exhibitions, and public actions by signing up for the Education Amplifier network and sharing this opportunity with your students. 🗓 Submit collages by September 15, 2026 🔗 Download the Open Call for Art + sign up for the Education Amplifier network — link in bio.

In 1896, Alfred Jarry’s seminal play Ubu Roi was performed twice at a cafe in Paris. 130 years later, an experimental revival of the play was staged at Theatre Row as part of @falloffreedom 's national Mayday movement. Written by a diverse group of 28 writers using the Surrealist game of "Exquisite Corpse," the script brings Ubu Roi into the present day, reflecting the concerns of not just a single writer, but of many. It was such an honor to partner with Fall of Freedom on this one-night-only event. Congrats to all on a truly successful experiment!

May Day in Los Sures: three events, one block, one shared mission. From sketching + salsa at @timelessthreadsvintage , to an open mic at @ampmgallery , ending the night with a live performance by Los Chachos, at our sidewalk concert; the community came together to honor workers, stand against gentrification, and celebrate the roots of resistance in salsa and hip-hop.

On May Day, @climateimaginarium and @climatecafe.eco were proud to participate in #FallOfFreedom, a nationwide cultural movement uniting artists, institutions, and communities in celebration of creative expression and in defiance of authoritarianism. Visit us on Governors Island this summer to experience “Witness to Change,” our climate art exhibition curated in opposition to the obfuscation, erasure, and dismantlement of climate data by authoritarian forces.

On May Day, May 1st, a movement of artists and art admirers gathered to resist fascism through exhibitions, panels, workshops, and so many other creative activities. On the day honoring the labor movement and workers, we were reminded that art can be a source of solidarity, hope, and community organizing. I was honored that my exhibition, An American Son, at the @chriswhitegallery was part of the movement In the spirit of the @falloffreedom and my poem, Creative Destruction, I hope you will use your art and creativity in the service of resisting fascism and organizing for a better society and world. CREATIVE DESTRUCTION Creative, embrace All the destructive intentions of art - Enduring lies to be "faithful to nature" survive produce works For the future is formed in the movement
