Check out this short doc I produced alongside the Discodelic crew, as we pay homage to this unsung hero of the bay!
Musica Latina was a record/music store that operated in The Mission District from 1967 to 2010. When the store closed, it did so without much fanfare; no articles were written about it, and save for a few hardcore record collectors, most folks seemed to accept it as another casualty of the ever-changing cultural landscape of The Mission.
But unbeknown to most folks, the store's remaining inventory of tens of thousands of sealed LPs and unplayed deadstock 45s were carefully and diligently cared for by Musica Latina's founder and owner, Ernesto Gonzalez. For the last 15 years, the collection remained under his fastidious obsessive care, untouched by anyone else. And now, at the ripe age of 90 years old, Ernesto finally accepted that it was time to let go and pass on the remaining part of his legacy, and called @discodelic_discos_viajantes to make a deal.
What revealed was an incredible depository of vinyl, a true time capsule of Latin music from the late 1960s through the 1990s available in San Francisco, a treasure trove of impossible to find rarities.
¡El disco es cultura!
The age of conspiracy theories is behind us. But while it was around, it inspired some great tunes.
Check out this 7", spun at 33.3rpm! Not sure who the artist is. Found in a 45s bin in Los Angeles. I paid a whole dollar for it.
RIP John F Kennedy. All praise to the most high over that grassy knoll.

A couple of months ago, I had the honor of accompanying @rrreyna_ and her whole @lasguerrerascocina crew to Super Bowl 2026 (but better known as the Benito Bowl, let's be real), where they were going to be catering. I was there to document the behind the scenes.
This massive undertaking had been years in the making. Years of hard work, leveling up, preparation, and solidifying community and the migrant entrepreneurial spirit.
From this, a short documentary idea was born, one that I'm also humbled to be directing and creating alongside Reyna, with support from the good folks over at @immigrantsrising and @caimmigrant .
Stay tuned! Trailer and all that coming soon. 🙏🏽
Had the distinct honor and privilege of capturing @combotezeta over at @districtrecording as they recorded their first album. 3/7 and 3/8.
Here are some frames from the two-day-long recording session.
Be on the lookout! This album is gonna be a scorcher!
