Earlier today, Gov. Newsom released his May revised budget proposal for the fiscal year 2026-27.
While we give the governor credit for funding programs that support immigrant communities, this proposal falls far short in investing in the health and safety of communities that built California’s prosperity.

The May Budget revision is coming and it will decide who gets food assistance and who is left behind in California. We recently engaged the Governor’s office to let them know what’s needed: #Food4All — protect the California Food Assistance Program expansion for older adults ages 55+ AND restore food access for immigrant communities shut out of CalFresh due to H.R. 1
Did you know that in 2023, California immigrant business owners accounted for $28.4 billion of the state’s business income? Through training, technical assistance, and microgrants, the SEED Initiative has helped approximately 3,400 entrepreneurs who contribute immensely to their local communities and the state’s economy.
