AB 1708 helps smaller cities with populations under 300,000 better address homelessness by expanding access to critical resources, coordination, and local solutions that meet the unique needs of their communities. Every city deserves the tools to support people with dignity and compassion.
We are proud to announce that Assemblymember Jose Luis Solache has been recognized as our Legislator of the Year for his unwavering commitment to advancing education and awareness around organ, eye, and tissue donation. In 2025, he championed and passed his first bill, AB 466, which was signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom. Since then, he has stood firmly alongside Donate Life California, supporting our mission to educate and empower communities across the state.
AB 466 plays a transformative role by increasing donation education for college students on campuses statewide. Thanks to this legislation, multiple colleges across California have already begun implementing educational programs, reaching thousands of students. This monumental step ensures that more Californians receive accurate, accessible information about the Donate Life California Registry directly through their schools.
Assemblymember Solache's leadership extends beyond legislation. He has spoken passionately about the importance of registering as an organ, eye, and tissue donor during Assembly floor hearings and publicly highlighted the life-changing impact of donation at our 2026 Lobby Day event.
We are deeply grateful for his positivity, advocacy, and steadfast support. Assemblymember Solache is making a meaningful difference—one that will continue to benefit communities throughout our beautiful state for years to come.

At Cerritos College’s 2026 State of the College, students, faculty, and administrators shared why AB 1636 matters.
Too many students who plan to attend college face unnecessary barriers before they even enroll. AB 1636 helps create a smoother pathway for local high school students to access advising, financial aid support, orientation, and enrollment preparation at Cerritos College, especially for first-generation students and those who need the most support.
Thank you to everyone who spoke about the importance of building a more seamless transition from high school to higher education.
Great spending time with the community at the Pan Am Fiesta in Lakewood this Mother’s Day weekend - celebrating the rich cultures, traditions, and families that make our communities so vibrant. Thank you to everyone who helped make this longtime tradition so special!
Today, we celebrate the incredible mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures who hold our communities together.
Thank you to @musa18_org and the Empowered Women Alliance for hosting such a beautiful Mother’s Day Celebration for families in Paramount. It was an honor to join everyone, share a few words, and recognize the strength, sacrifice, and love that mothers give every single day.
To all the moms in our community: we see you, we appreciate you, and we celebrate you today and always. Happy Mother’s Day! Feliz Día de las Madres! ❤️
Thanks again to @donatelifecalifornia for recognizing our work on AB 466 to bring donor education to CSU, UC, and Community College campuses, and our continued partnership to save lives through donation and awareness! #2026LegislativeChampionAward
We’re feeling energized after yesterday’s lobby day. 💪🏽
Nearly 100 child care providers showed up to meet with their lawmakers and educate them about the urgent need to pay providers the true cost of care by passing #AB1981, equipping providers with Know Your Rights training by passing #AB237, and funding child care in the #CABudget.
When we show up, we win.
We’re grateful to @asmaguiarcurry for championing the #TrueCost ofCare by authoring AB 1981, as well as @asmsolache for standing by standing by providers who keep our communities safe and authoring AB 2379.
You 🫵 can join our fight by contacting your state lawmakers and telling them you support #AB1981: The True Cost of Care Act at the link in our bio.
This morning, I was honored to receive the 2026 Legislative Champion Award from Donate Life California - a recognition that reflects the power of advocacy, compassion, and community.
After the ceremony, I had the privilege of meeting with Prasad Garimella and Montielle Brandman, whose stories remind us what this work is truly about.
Montielle shared the story of her “angel daughter,” Alexis Lorraine, whose legacy lives on through the gift of tissue donation. Alexis gave others a second chance at life and healing - an act of generosity that continues to ripple far beyond her lifetime.
These are the stories that ground our work. They remind us that behind every policy, every bill, and every vote are real people, real families, and real impact.
You can be part of that impact.
When you visit the DMV, say YES to organ and tissue donation and register for the pink dot on your driver’s license. One decision can save lives, restore sight, and give hope to families across California.
