Hello Philly animation lovers! Philly Animation Fest will be co-presenting two lovely films by Japanese director Mamoru Hosoda: MIRAI (2018) and WOLF CHILDREN (2012) with our friends at the Philadelphia Film Society and the Philadelphia Asian American Film Society. These films are part of Philadelphia Film Societyâs series Lost in Animation. Hope to see you there at the Philadelphia Film Center! We are proud to announce @nydiahan as our Philadelphia Icon Honoree. She stands as a powerful force in truthful storytelling, uplifting and safeguarding AANHPI voices in Philadelphia and beyond. Nydia reminds us that representation matters and that it is only the beginning.
Nydia Han is an Emmy award-winning television journalist, TEDx speaker, and creator of #ThisIsAmerica, a three-part documentary series about race, racism, and the diverse American experience. Nydia anchors 6abcâs Action News at 10am weekdays and is the stationâs consumer investigative reporter. She is the 2019 recipient of the Pearl S. Buck International Woman of Influence award, the Inspire Award from the National Association of Asian American Professionals, and the Global Voice Award from the World Woman Summit. She was also named âOutstanding Allyâ of Diversity and Inclusion by the Philadelphia Inquirer. Nydia serves on the community advisory board for the Asian American Womenâs Coalition and volunteers her time for many other non-profits. She graduated from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. Nydia enjoys good food, good wine, and most of all, a good laugh. And she is working really, really hard to teach her two kids to speak Korean.

PAAFF is proud to support the 15th Annual Tri-Co Film Festival!
On May 6, 2026 at 6:30PM, the 15th Annual Tri-Co Film Festival will take place at the Bryn Mawr Film Institute! The Tri-Co Film Festival showcases exemplary film and media work by students at Haverford, Bryn Mawr, and Swarthmore colleges. Highlighting the diversity of media production within the Tri-Co, the program seeks work that demonstrates creativity, craft, and intentionality across a variety of genres and aesthetics. The Festival will culminate in a night of selected film screenings at the Bryn Mawr Film Institute. Films will also be made available through an online portal for those that cannot attend the in-person event.

Join us this Thursday for this special program presented by the Free Library of Philadelphia in partnership with the Philadelphia Asian American Film Foundation, this special evening invites audiences to experience powerful stories of identity, family, and resistance.
The program features a curated selection of short films from the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival: Fighting For Family, The Healing Circle, and Kalinga (Care). Each film explores themes of immigration, belonging, and community, in conversation with this yearâs One Book, One Philadelphia selection, Our Missing Hearts.
Following the screening, join us for a conversation with the filmmakers as we reflect on how storytelling through film and literature can illuminate the experiences of Asian American communities and beyond.
