How excited are we for @larretparis , you ask? So excited! This newest addition to the Grey Spaces family of restaurants took a long time to bake, but a happy team, happy guests, and this very kind recognition from @NYTimes , courtesy of the very diligent and caring @korshawilson , makes it all worth it. A giant congrats to our brethren in Paris for their perseverance and heart. Shifties on us! #southernfoodonthemove #larretparis #greyspaces #thegreysavannah 📸: Johno, L'Arret Exterior, @matthew_avignone for The New York Times 📸: Mashama, @k___7___n

#ad When my parents and friends are in town, there’s nothing I love more than cooking with, and for them. Being a chef and running multiple restaurants can get crazy, you would think cooking after a long day wouldn’t be something I would want to do, but as a chef, I love nothing more than unwinding with a great meal. My dad inspired and helped me perfect (in my opinion) one of his family recipes, Baked Sea Island Peas and Ground Beef. I partnered with @beefitswhatsfordinner to have the best #ChefsNight In, to get my dad back in the kitchen with me, and to share a meal with my mom and friends while we were all in town. I hope you can enjoy your own #ChefsNightIn with family and friends, for some dinner inspiration, try my family favorite beef recipe, visit: /chefs-night-in #beeffarmersandranchers @thegreysavannah @johnomorisano

When I signed onto bringing back Gage & Tollner seven years ago, the fact that Ms Edna Lewis’ time here as Executive Chef was THE thing that made the project even more exciting and meaningful! Our menu nods to the long history of our restaurant as a classic Oyster Chophouse but I also wanted to emphasize Ms Lewis’ time here in the late eighties/ early nineties as she leaned into her way of cooking and celebrating the seasons as a chef. I look toward her amazing cookbooks, especially Taste of Country Cooking for inspiration and guidance. We celebrate her legacy on the regular on the menu and in our private dining room named in her honor. This year marks the 50th anniversary of Taste of Country Cooking. To mark the occasion, we are getting ready for a huge celebration in honor of this Grand Dame of southern ( read American) cooking to benefit the Edna Lewis Foundation! Join me, @mashamabailey @leahbcooks @chefadriennecheatham for a multi-course dinner, emceed by @audiophilegirl ( Of Finding Edna Lewis Film) Tickets are available for purchase at bembrooklyn.com/tocc50. Each ticket includes a copy of the new 50th-anniversary edition of The Taste of Country Cooking, courtesy of Knopf Cooks. Those unable to attend who would like to make a gift to the Foundation can do so at theednalewisfoundation.org/donate. See you in the Edna Lewis Room at her table @gage.and.tollner

Celebrating Mashama Bailey on her inclusion in the 2026 TIME100 👏 As @kamalaharris writes, “Mashama is a chef, a teacher, and a storyteller… [with] the unique gift of connecting people through a bond of mutual understanding.” Mashama and her business partner Johno Morisano, who operate both @thegreysavannah and @larretparis , make connection feel effortless—on the line, across cities and countries, at every table they touch. Grey Spaces continues to evolve with intention (and very good taste), and they’re just getting started.

Edna Lewis cooked at Gage & Tollner before I ever knew I’d be a chef. Now, I get to invite you to her table as the Chair of the Edna Lewis Foundation. On May 5th, I’ll be cooking alongside chefs @leahbcooks , @chefadriennecheatham , and @chefsohui at Gage & Tollner for a special benefit dinner honoring the 50th anniversary of The Taste of Country Cooking and raising funds for the Foundation. This evening is deeply personal to me. Miss Lewis showed us the importance of Southern food and its role in American cuisine. We’re excited to show our appreciation for Miss Lewis through innovative courses that bridge her legacy and our imagination. Edna’s Table opens the BEM Brooklyn’s inaugural Edna Lewis Festival and is made possible by their partnership, and that of Gage & Tollner and Knopf Cooks. Tickets are on sale and include a copy of The Taste of Country Cooking: 50th Anniversary Edition, in your hands on the very day it publishes. Come be part of something deliciously impactful. Tickets are available at #EdnaLewis #TOCC50

❤️ Mexico City in 3 days ❤️ Running around CDMX, revisiting old haunts with some of the most incredible humans and chefs, was the treat of all treats. @mashamabailey @annbkool @cheetieku @ninacompton @lisamariedonovan @ellenmariebennett . Dream team ❤️✨ We stayed in La Condesa, went straight to Contramar, walked everywhere, took the subway (still my favorite—color coding = genius), wandered Xochimilco with our dear friend and epic guide @pablouso , danced on the sidewalk after dinner, and paid our respects at institutions like @nicosmexico . We ate tacos everywhere—not just the fancy spots, but the forever ones. We broke bread with chef friends who live there @gabrielacamara , drank huge cups of boiling hot milk with Nescafé instant coffee and sugar for breakfast (IYKYK- allll the abuelitas in Mexico drink this), we swapped life stories, got inspired, soaked up the sounds and energy everywhere we went and fully leaned into being the food nerds we are. 😂✨⚡️ The fact that we all somehow made this trip happen—despite living in different cities—still feels like a small miracle. Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it. 💛 Take me back to one of the most cup-filling adventures I’ve had in a long time.
