The response to our very first Open Call was absolutely incredible— with over 100 submissions received, from artists across the country, it was not easy narrowing down our final group! A huge thank you to every artist who took the time to submit their work. It was incredibly inspiring to go through every single submission and we’re so grateful for the overwhelming support and enthusiasm for what we are doing here. That all being said we are so excited to share with you the 38 artists who will make up our very first Open Call Exhibition. 💖 THANK YOU SYDNEY @thefinderskeepersmarket 🥹 It has been a few days now since our whirlwind of a trip to Gadigal Land for @thefinderskeepersmarket and I'm honestly still processing what a huge and amazing weekend it was 🥲💖 From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for taking time out of your weekend to show up for all of us artists and makers, for yapping with me (even if my convo skills got a lil delulu near the end 🤣) and adopting Misu Juju art for your homes! 🥰 I made this reel of the little random videos and photos I took across the weekend ♡ it's filled with moments of hustling behind the scenes, of good company and friends, and of overwhelming support and love. I want to remember this feeling yo. Thank you @thefinderskeepersmarket , thank you for all the love 🥰☘️✨💛 Last weekend at the Finders Keepers Market felt like a little miracle. It was full of surprises, joy, and so much love… I honestly felt like I could cry. This year, I’ve been wanting to slow down and focus on creating my picture book, so I didn’t plan to join big events for a while. But last Wednesday, I suddenly got a message from the Finders Keepers team—there was a spot, and they asked if I’d like to join. At the same time, a fellow artist from Melbourne was coming to Sydney join the event and staying with me. It just felt like everything aligned in a very unexpected way. I missed that feeling of being part of something, of seeing everyone again… so I said yes. It was a very quick turnaround—I only got back on Thursday and had to set up on Friday. I had just half a day to prepare, and barely slept all week… maybe 4–5 hours a night. I felt like a little superhero 🥹 But once I was there, everything felt worth it. Seeing so many familiar artists, lovely returning customers, and the kind Finders Keepers team… it reminded me how special this community is. To me, being part of this market is not only about meeting all the lovely customers, but also about reconnecting with so many artists. We only get to see each other maybe once or twice a year, which makes every moment feel extra precious. I really love that feeling of being together. With your support, your help, and all the love I received… I truly felt so happy and held 🤍 And I couldn’t have done it alone. Thank you to my friends who helped me move everything, stayed with me at the stall, and helped me pack down at the end… you are truly my little angels 🤍 Thank you for all the love, support, and encouragement. Thank you for reminding me to keep creating. I’m a storybook illustrator based in Sydney. My work is inspired by places I’ve been—across Australia and beyond.
