Been cuttinā and paintinā lots of weird shapes and puzzle pieces lately for new artworks.
The shared room that I work out of at my studio is called the dojo, and as Iām moving to a new space really soon this song seemed like the obvious choice. Jury is still out on whether I unofficially name my new studio the pussy palace š¤
Puzzle pieces coming together for my latest painting - āTell me againā. This piece is an ode to dreamlike childhood memories that youāre not sure if you truly remember or if youāve been told the story so many times it feels like you can touch it.
Tonight! Soooo so happy to be part of @somethingelsegallery first exhibition. I created these two pieces at the end of last year and to me they are both part of one story, so Iām thrilled to have them hanging in the same show.
Opening night is tonight from 6pm, or go see it until 7th June.
Thank you @somethingelsegallery for including my work alongside so many beautiful pieces.
So pumped to be an exhibitor at The Big Design Market in Melbourne next weekend!
Iām gonna have some gorgie new art prints to brighten up your walls, some very cute new stationery for all my journaling friends and loads of other fun stuff.
There are over 250 exhibitors at @bigdesignmarket - itās gonna be amazing. Canāt wait to see you there!
Find me in my dreams. Acrylic on hand cut paper and board in a vintage wooden frame. This piece is intentionally delicate, and to be opened occasionally.
Iāve left the rain sounds from my video in alongside the music because I think it sets the tone for this one.
A verrrrry slow process condensed into two minutes! For small paintings like this I cut almost all of the pieces at once. Sound up for some shwoopy cutting/sanding/drawing asmr noises.
āEverything is fineā
Possibly no one else will find this as funny as I do š¹
Shoutout to dolls house youtube for teaching me how to make super tiny and strong hinges from paper!
I had so much fun creating the teeny tiny paper elements for this piece, commissioned by the recipientās friend for a special birthday. All of the individual pieces hold meaning for the recipient, such a special gift!
Iāve been reflecting a lot recently on how my art has evolved since I started cutting paper people in 2017, as Iāve been struggling this past year with the direction of my work and what I want it to be. I had totally forgotten about my 2017-2019 giant food/tiny person phase - I was sooooo into this and it was so fun! I want to get back some of this playfulness in my work this year as I feel like thatās what I really love to create. Hereās a little trip down memory lane for anyone who has stuck around since then!
