#ElSalvador
In 2022, I participated in the El Salvador Cup of Excellence cupping twice. I did it without any information about the coffees. The sample I chose as the best cup was from El Conacaste. Since then, I’ve been curious about Finca El Conacaste. Finally, a few days ago, I visited the farm and saw the beautiful place I had only seen on their Instagram.
Because of the climate, they hadn’t finished the harvest and processing yet, but I was still able to taste some new crops and closely observe the picking and processing. In addition, we worked together to develop new processing plans. Finca El Conacaste continues to improve their coffee to enhance flavor. I could truly feel their passion and dedication. It made me reflect again as both a barista and a green bean buyer.
El Conacaste has passion for coffee, a stunning landscape, and wonderful people. These elements contribute to the farm’s growth. Positive energy creates a virtuous cycle, and this cycle helps maintain the quality of their coffee. Now I can clearly explain why El Conacaste is one of the best farms in El Salvador.
I’m excited to introduce new crops from El Conacaste to my customers. I will share their passion, terroir, and flavors with them. It was an honor to meet you. I will remember this moment forever, and I hope to visit the farm again someday. See you soon. @fincaelconacaste
#Guatemala
This is my first time visiting Central American countries. Guatemala has always produced amazing coffees like El Injerto, Rosma, and Reforma. I always choose Guatemalan coffee whenever I find it, so I’ve wanted to visit Guatemala for a long time. Finally, today, my dream has come true.
I was able to taste wonderful coffees during my first cupping at El Injerto Cafe in Guatemala City. I met the farm owner and the Guatemala Brewers Cup champion. It was a great experience to share cups with them. The staff at El Injerto Café were also very helpful, and I felt comfortable thanks to their support. Thanks @elinjertocoffee and @johnmoon__ !
After that, Dinamica Coffee, the exporter of Guatemalan coffee, took care of me. With Ruth from the Dinamica team, I was able to see well-organized farms and facilities. At the cupping table, I found elegant and clean coffees. I think this is possible because of their effort to control every detail of the process. I gained a lot of insight from their attitude toward coffee. Finally, I was able to experience traditional Guatemalan food and culture with them. I will remember it forever. 2025년 마지막 커피인쇄소 영업을 끝으로…
올해 마지막으로 재생한 플레이리스트와 한 해의 인연들을 정리해본다.
결국 인생에서 사람이 남는다는 말처럼 수많은 인연들과 닿았던 한 해,
에티오피아, 심사, 커핑, 팝업, 행사
그리고 커피인쇄소를 통해서 정말 많은 사람들과 조우했던 한 해,
추운 날 인연들이 남긴 온기를 품어본다.
내년에도 좋은 인연이 함께하길 빌어본다.
#후기 매년 이맘 때면 관련 사진들을 올리게 되는 커피인들의 명절 카페쇼였지만 올해 카페쇼는 다른 후기로 시간의 흔적을 남겨본다. 2026년 브뤼셀에서 열리게 되는 월드 브루어스컵에 한국 대표로 출전할 선수를 선발하는 2026 KBrC가 카페쇼에서 열리게 됐다. 기존과는 다른 짧은 일정, 다른 심사 스케줄, 새롭게 만나는 사람들, 이번 카페쇼에서 열리게 된 KBrC는 익숙한 것들을 색다르게 마주하는 시간들의 총체였다. 시간의 거슬러 흔적이 가장 많이 남아있는 오늘 파이널 무대에 같이 오르게 된 심사 팀에게 너무도 많은 신세를 지게 됐고 또한 다시 한 번 배우는 자리가 됐다. 작년에 이어 올해에도 만날 수 있었던 @gugu_cathy , @yi.yeonjung , @o.dohwazii 선생님들에게 많은 도움을 받았고 재작년에 같이 했던 @roaster.aiden 선생님에게 다시 한 번 많은 신세를 졌다. 그리고 이번엔 지난 로스팅 대회에서 신세를 많이졌던 @capulusvita 선생님과 함께할 수 있어 감사했다. 마지막으로 심사의 처음과 마지막을 같이했던 @ericzhao_zhq 에게 정말 큰 도움이 됐다고 말하고 싶다. 월드에서 활동하는 심사 위원들과 함께할 수 있는 기회는 흔치 않은데 이번 기회는 직접 마주 앉아 같이 이야기를 나눌 수 있는 뜻깊은 시간이었다. 준결선에서 마주했던 심사 팀에서 함께한 @jojun7000 , @dada_giantcoffee , @barista_ailey 선생님들께서는 부족한 헤드의 역량을 잘 채워주셨고 긴장 속에 무대에 올라 같은 커피를 나누며 많은 이야기는 지금까지도 좋은 기억으로 남아있다. 그리고 처음 예선 심사를 하면서 가장 많은 이야기를 나눴던 @marchmonkey0318 , @hanss__b , @ericzhao_zhq 선생님들, 이분들이 아니었다면 어땠을까 할 정도로 정말 큰 도움이 됐고 무사히 심사의 시작을 열 수 있었다. 또한 심사 워크샵에서 함께한 많은 선생님들과 캘리브레이션 바리스타로 함께해주신 @georgew.peng 과 여러 바리스타분들에게 감사했다. 대회 운영에 힘써주신 @sca_korea@koreacoffeechampionships@manjejung@cerawhy@beanwife@seoulcafeshow 그리고 수많은 자원봉사자분들과 운영 매니저님의 서포트는 심사를 무사히 마칠 수 있는 힘이 되었다. 마지막으로 이 대회를 위해 가장 많은 시간을 할애해주신 모든 선수분들에게 깊은 감사함을 느낀다. 2026 KBrC Champion @junstarpark 축하드립니다! 올해 카페쇼의 커피미업 부스에 있지 못해 아쉬운이 없는 것은 아니지만, 새로운 환경에서 마주한 KBrC 여정은 새로운 의미를 만들어낸 장이었다. 모두 만나뵈서 반가웠습니다. 우리 다시 만나요!
#소회 다시 찾아온 2026 KCRC 심사 시즌이 시작됐다. 이번으로 세번째로 참가하게 된 KCRC에서 9월 초 심사 워크샵, 예선 심사부터 9월 중순의 결선 심사까지 많은 분들에게 다시 한 번 신세를 지게됐다. 이번 심사는 워크샵과 예선 심사가 1주일 가량 진행됐고 2주의 텀을 두고 결선 심사가 있는만큼 기나긴 심사의 스케줄이었다. 기간이 길었던만큼 그 어떤 심사보다 더 많은 분들에게 신세를 졌기에 소회를 핑계삼아 다시 한 번 감사의 인사를 드린다. 우선 일주일 동안 워크샵과 예선 심사 기간동안 같은 커피를 맛보며 많은 이야기를 나눴던 B조 심사 위원님들 최종환 선생님 @c_rebirth_ 김유진 선생님 @eugene.kim_ 김홍연 선생님 @haewol_coffee_official 송유현 선생님 @utah_song 감사했습니다. 또한 결선 두 테이블을 머리 맞대며 함께 심사했던 송영선 선생님 @capulusvita 최현석 선생님 @roaster.aiden 오인석 선생님 @jeremyoh 이선명 선생님 @mayforest_lsm_sofia 감사합니다. @songcupper@thephatuncle@vicky_chen_coffee , Thanks for your good management and kind support!
