For over a quarter of a century, Richard Wagner worked on his âmagnum opusâ, DER RING DES NIBELUNGEN (The Ring of the Nibelung): from the carefree frolics of the Rhine maidens to the apocalyptic downfall of the godsâ hall, Valhalla, this 15-hour Gesamtkunstwerk sees beginning and end merge into one.
Director Stefan Herheim tells this endless story of the rise and fall of ideas and worldviews for us, driven by a theatrical delight in performance.
