Detailed, challenging, egoless work with some of the best - from everyone in the cast, everyone on the team, and everyone in the pit. It’s truly been one of “those” artistic experiences. Thank you. @patrick.guetti makes his house and role debut as both Bertrand and Lauret in Dimitri Tcherniakov’s production of The Maid of Orleans @nationaleoperaballet ! Toi Toi Toi, Patrick!

“Fafner and I go back. I first sang the role in @lyricopera ’s Siegfried, directly after completing my time in the Ryan Opera Center in 2018. In the summer of 2020, I met Fafner again in @deutscheoperberlin ’s open-air staging of Das Rheingold — socially distanced in a parking lot — one of the first live performances to happen during the height of the pandemic. To return to Das Rheingold this season, conducted by Kirill Petrenko at both the @osterfestspielesalzburg and the @berlinphil , is an especially exciting milestone. Another highlight of this season is joining Dmitri Tcherniakov for The Maid of Orleans at @nationaleoperaballet , where I will finally make my debut with the company. It is bittersweet to say goodbye to ensemble life at Deutsche Oper Berlin, which has been my “home” since 2019. However, I am grateful to close this chapter by singing some of my favorites: Daland, the Grand Inquisitor, Basilio, Bottom, and Sarastro.” @patrick.guetti This season sees Patrick’s house debut at the Osterfestpiele Salzburg singing the role of Fafner in a new production of Das Rheingold by @kirillserebrennikov conducted by Kirill Petrenko, which will also be presented in concert with the Berlin Philharmoniker. He also makes his house and role debut as both Bertrand and Lauret in Dimitri Tcherniakov’s production of The Maid of Orleans at Dutch National Opera. This season also marks his final season as a featured ensemble member at Deutsche Oper Berlin with a return to some of his signature roles including Daland in Der fliegende Holländer, Grand Inquisitor in Don Carlo, Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia,and Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

It can be hard to feel when one season ends and the next begins - especially with only a few days off in between. But here’s a lil’ preview of what’s going on for me in 25/26. My final season in the @deutscheoperberlin ensemble, singing a slew of great roles. Debut and a new production @nationaleoperaballet in The Maid of Orleans working with Dmitri Tcherniakov and Valentin Uryupin. Debut and a new production @osterfestspielesalzburg in Das Rheingold where two Kirills are better than one. Working with Kirill Petrenko and Kirill Serebrennikov. Can’t wait! Deutsche Oper Berlin has announced the 25/26 season. It feels hard to believe, but this upcoming season will be my 7th here in the Ensemble. The 7th—and the last. With new administration coming in the 26/27 season, a logical end to my time here presented itself. It was a bit scary to think about breaking from a situation that has become comfortable. Perhaps that comfort is reason enough to shake things up and move on. The timing feels right and I’m even (dare I say…) *excited* about what the next chapter will bring! DOB will always have a place in my heart, and it will certainly be an adjustment to not call this theatre “home.” A lot of my colleagues will also be moving on after this next season. In that spirit, the 25/26 season feels quite special. It will likely be the last time to see us together in these productions—and perhaps the last time to see some of these productions at all! A time to celebrate, for sure.
