A very fun and favourite shoot from last year with @nicholas_daley for his SS23 collection ‘Calypso’. ‘For Spring/ Summer 23 Nicholas Daley explores Calypso music's rich visual identity through his own person lineage. Actor, singer and civil rights activist Harry Belafonte sits at the centre of the narrative intertwining family history, island life and the Caribbeans’s prolific musical output. 'Parallel' - dir @_rosannalee We shot this so, so long ago, back in April 2021, one of the first few videos that I'd ever produced. This was a special one to be a part of for many reasons, one being that most of the crew could relate to the story of navigating two heritages/cultures in some way or another which resulted in a lot of love being poured in to the project from start to finish. Big love to the loveliest @_rosannalee who did such a beautiful job encapsulating the nuances of trying to understand your identity in what can sometimes feel like a limbo between both worlds. Shout out to all of the communities, especially the Chinese community in Southend, who really helped make this short happen and continue to show their support.
