What does the shopping centre of the future look like? Well, a lot less like a shopping centre.
For the past five years, we’ve been on a journey with @chadstone.au as they grow into a dynamic destination of chance encounters, evolving discovery and unfolding synchronicities. Or, simply, a city.
Working across strategy, voice and design – we’ve helped define a new era for the Southern Hemisphere’s largest shopping precinct. Full case study in bio.
Join mosey, and Michaela Webb (AGI Member) and Paul Tisdell from Studio Round, for Tour de Sign. A leisurely walking tour of some of Melbourne’s most iconic precincts, influential hospitality venues and world-class retail destinations.
Saturday 16 May, 9am–12pm
Michaela and Paul will take us behind their work for one of the city’s newest hotels @hydemelbourneplace — sharing the inspiration behind the signature Melbourne venue and its contribution to the cultural fabric of the city.
Tour de Sign is a Melbourne Design Week event. The tour reveals some of the often-invisible layers of design — wayfinding, signage, placemaking, and branding — and the role it plays in actively shaping the city’s identity and future..

At the heart of the visual brand we developed for AMPA is a logotype that speaks directly to the distinct concrete shapes that now house Australia’s largest performing arts collection.
By mirroring the brutalist curves of architect Sir Roy Grounds’ Hamer Hall, we developed a contemporary visual signature for AMPA that’s genuinely grounded in history. A new wordmark inspired by a true Melbourne landmark.
As part of @melbourneartfair 2026, the team asked us to create a publication that broadened and deepened the brand’s storytelling ability. Among our goals was to make the Art Fair more accessible to more people, dismantling some of the ‘white cube’ stigma that can act as a barrier to engaging with visual art.
Tonally and thematically, Fair Play challenges these ideas by engaging with art seriously – but never formally. With stories that range from an exploration of collecting groups, the inclusion of @futureobjekt as part of the festivities and a conversation with New Zealand’s Michael Parekōwhai, Fair Play is more democratic than didactic.

Before and after ✨
A labour of love from MAF x @studio_round , the very first Melbourne Art Fair broadsheets are about to hit the stands. Flick through some fun stories, tips for collecting, reminiscing on past Fairs. This inaugural edition includes a look back at the very first MAF Commission from 2006: Michael Parekōwhai’s Cosmo McMurtry, commissioned in partnership with @ngvmelbourne .

It’s been a huge year – and we’ve almost used up all the words we have left. So, we’ll keep it brief: Happy holidays to our clients, collaborators and colleagues. We can’t wait to see you all in 2026 for another round. XOXO.
Some of the friendly faces (and insightful commentary) from our recent Round Table live event, discussing the relationship between between food, hospitality and placemaking.
Thanks to everyone who came, we’re looking forward to the next one.

After working with @hannahjosephinegreen to create a strategy and identity for @etta_melbourne almost a decade ago, we were excited to have the opportunity to reunite to work on her latest venture: @daphne.3057 .
Offering an easy-going to hospitality, Daphne is designed to be a local’s local – offering elevated pub fare and laidback charm. To complement this vision, we shaped an identity that walked the line between refined and casual. This included creating a suite of illustrations that channeled the same spirit via a loose, gestural energy and on-site signage.

Last night, we welcomed friends new and old into our studio for the debut of Round Table Live – a series of panel discussions relevant to our industry and peers. To kick things off, we drew on a topic that’s close to our hearts (and stomachs): the essential role that food, beverage, and hospitality play in successful placemaking.
To dissect this juicy topic, we welcomed the talented journalist and critic @danivalent as host, alongside speakers @waldrend , @tracysatherton and our own @michaelabwebb .
Of course, given the subject, it seemed only appropriate for our executive chef @robnoxious1 (who moonlights as strategy director between meals) to prep a feast inspired by some of our favourite collaborators. We also assembled some special gifts, filled with food goodies we’ve had the pleasure of working on over the years.
We want to extend a special thanks to our brilliant host, panellists and all of those who took the time to join us. We’re already hungry for more.
