Dreaming of a solarpunk future🧚🏼‍♀️🐋🐝🌻☀️🌏 this beadwork I’m wearing is from Sabah, my home state in Malaysia. I come from two indigenous groups, Kadazan-Dusun and Murut - where Indigenous peoples make up over half of Sabah’s population. As my personal and professional lives intertwined repeatedly last year, I found myself rediscovering my heritage in London, through a social/environmental lens. When I was working at London Climate Action Week last year, I discovered that indigenous communities protect 80% of the world’s remaining biodiversity, yet make up only 6% of the global population. Unfortunately they do not get enough funding, lack legal recognition and basic human rights. I was working towards direct funding to Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs) a lot last year, learning a lot about the wider economic systems that can facilitate this. Funnily enough, through ‘protecting’ my own local green space in London with my local community, there just so happened to be alignment with my own heritage. Manifesting the future - I want to work across Asia (and eventually the wider world) to protect more land, more communities, and be apart of the force that encourages a solarpunk future☀️🐋🌸🌏🐞 Shout out to @ipasfund @globalalliancet for the opportunity to work so closely to this issue last year🐝 📸 @kerrie.irl #solarpunk #indigenousrights #environmentalimpact

Last month, we hosted our ‘Community Co-Design Workshop’ in collaboration with @middlesexuniversity ✨ As we develop designs for our community garden/social space in Rushgrove Park, Colindale, it was integral that this process was led by the wants and needs of the local community. We decided where we wanted seating, what plants should be planted, and what activities the space should facilitate🌸🏡🐞🐛🌳 we will be discussing and developing these plans with @barnetcouncil in the coming weeks❗️ A massive thank you so all residents who attended, our amazing project facilitators @lauren.architecture @7aeyongg @magda.jaro , the incredible BTS crew led by @joannasu___ and the wonderful @chrissymrose from @middlesexuniversity who helped make this event happen!!!! A huge team effort from an all-female team🤪🤪🤪 Special shoutout to @harrychubb for supplying the mini trees and massive dogs🐕🐕🐕 Photography by @amaranta_archives 📸

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY!!! I am extremely honoured to have won an award for IWD this year (for the Environment and Sustainability category) for our work at @rootedcityproject , by @barnetcouncil - London’s second largest borough! To be surrounded by such inspirational women in other fields , wow wow wow … I am truly touched. But I am only one representative of @rootedcityproject . This award goes out just as equally to my fellow co-founder @ma.anghella . Without her, I wouldn’t have had the energy, motivation and willpower to regenerate a park last year. Thank you so much for everything you do🥹🥹🥹 As we continue our next project this year, our team has grown to even many more incredible women (all working amazingly BTS) and we can’t wait to show what we are currently up to. And massive thank you Councillor Humayune Khalick, who nominated me for this award 💜 this project has gained a lot more local attention than we anticipated and we are so proud for what we achieved in less than a year. I think I’ve always been a ‘builder’ to some degree (hence the pics of me on construction sites since day1😭) - whether that be through building furniture at school, architecture at uni, and now… building real community! It doesn’t matter, but as long as I’m creating something socially and environmentally impactful, I’m happy :) To many more blessings to my amazing female network - you guys ROCK😎😎😎😎 #iwd2026 #internationalwomensday #internationalwomensday2026 #barnetcouncil

pass me the mic, but not for karaoke xxx Yo this might be the first Asian gathering I’ve been to where the mic wasn’t used for karaoke?💀💀 thank you so much to @esea.green.lions for inviting me to be a speaker at this potluck event at the @museumofthehome in Hoxton, London. Fun as always to ramble on about our work at @rootedcityproject 🪏🪏🪏- but also touching on indigenous land stewardship and how we can practice ancestral wisdom in urban areas (reclaiming neglected land as community/third spaces!!!). Fun fact: Asia is home to 70% of the worlds indigenous peoples (350-400mil individuals!) What a wonderful afternoon it was to hear from amazing east + south east Asian creatives, activists, community leaders and more, as well as mingle with all those who attended 🐲 u guys inspire me sm I adore events like these. Also big up to whoever brought the kare-kare and kimchi pancakes… I’ve never been so full at a networking event 😭😭🥵 was also very happy to see all my egg noodles finished 🤪🤪 hope to stay connected and meet up again soon😝🐲💚 Highly recommend to follow @esea.green.lions to see any upcoming events like these! And thank you to @squidhorsecomics @themolluscdimension for the amazing illustrations you made🤩 #climateaction #communityimpact #esea

A little over a year ago, I was moved by an article kindly written about me. To be recognised for my work, before graduating, was so touching and surreal. the article mentions awards I won for community garden design proposal, which I poured my heart and soul into. before designing anything, i went out to the community in Birmingham (where my project was based) and I hosted a workshop for neighbours to come and redesign their high street. What do they like? Won’t don’t they like? What would they like to see change? It was so inspiring to see first hand what community-led regeneration/retrofit COULD look like in ubran areas. I remember thinking how cool it would be to do this project in real life, completely impact-driven. 14 months later, I now have the privilege of leading (alongside my partner in crime @ma.anghella ) an amazing team of architects, ecologists, designers, sustainability consultants, community leaders… TO BUILD A COMMUNITY GARDEN. full circle moment I’m still shaking from excitement. how much one short tiktok/reel I shared 2 weeks ago has given new life to @rootedcityproject - this year will be crazy. Follow @rootedcityproject for our next london-based project😝 #communityimpact #communitygarden #retrofit #sustainablehomes
