If you’re not a habit in their life, or they can’t rely on you for their routine, then I think it’s hard to thrive." @nytcooking Editor In Chief @emweinstein dishes on routine, how she got started, and of course, Naz Deravian's (@bottomofthepot ) One-Pot Whole Roasted Chicken and Rice. Full interview live at our link in bio.

The best steakhouse burger in New York City? 🍔 👀 @emweinstein , the editor-in-chief of @nytcooking , says this iconic Manhattan restaurant has one of the most LEGENDARY burgers in the five boroughs. Made with a proprietary dry-aged meat blend, this burger costs a whopping $38—but it's truly a one-of-a kind experience for burger lovers in NYC. Would you try it? Some of the best food I ate in 2024 — the second half of the year (the best stuff of the first half is in a previous post). I mostly take food pics at restaurants to make sure I remember all the details, not to post them. These aren’t necessarily the single best dishes, just highlights from amazing meals/snacks/stops, the things that stuck with me. Happy new year — eat and drink something good tonight!! Oysters @lolas.nyc Focaccia @borgonyc Chicken with tamarind @bungalowny Zucchini blossom from an amazing meal @troubadour.bread in Healdsburg CA Duck with cherries @leveaudor Assorted magic at @misipasta governor’s island Best steak au poivre I’ve ever had @bistrotpaulbert Strawberry tart @mokonutsbakery Birthday cobbler @stissinghouse (with a punch bowl) Pintxos @eelbarnyc Pastries @melthebakery in Hudson Pistachio tahini Rice Krispie treat @hanisbakerynyc Pandan rolls @moonrabbitdc Steak at my favorite Korean bbq @wooga_fortlee The correct amount of cheese on a Caesar @cisiamonyc Architectural potatoes @425restaurant A room service bacon cheeseburger in Richmond, VA Potato pie at @bar_newhaven — the best meal in any year

One week until pub date for “Easy Weeknight Dinners!” The response so far has been amazing — thank you. We’ve just announced tour dates, with stops in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Montclair, DC and Richmond, where I’ll be joined by @clarkbar , @ericjoonho and @itsalislagle for different events. The Manhattan event at the Times Center is sold out, but you can find info for all the other events in my stories and also at the links in my bio. What have you been cooking? I wish I’d made the chile crisp fettuccine Alfredo again at home … but I did make it at the @nytcooking studio with the amazing @ameliaarend , at a shoot with @cbsmornings and @tonydokoupil . (I also made the yogurt-marinated roast chicken on Sunday, the only reasonable response to chilly gray blah weather.) Tell me what you’re cooking in the comments.

Two weeks until the release of “Easy Weeknight Dinners!” I’m busy over here signing copies! If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to preorder the book, or already did (thank you!), then here’s a sweetener: You can enter to win a free year of the @nytimes All Access digital subscription, which includes @nytcooking and @nytgames , along with some cute pencils and recipe bookmarks that match the book. Click the link in my stories to enter, and if you already preordered, you’ll just need to dig up your purchase number. Thank you so much. So, what are you cooking? This week I’ve made @genevieve_ko ’s chile crisp fettuccine alfredo and @heysueli ’s lemony shrimp and bean stew, both of which are in the book. Tell me what you’ve been making in the comments.

Less than three weeks til pub date (!) for “Easy Weeknight Dinners,” our new @nytcooking cookbook for busy people who love delicious food, or really anyone looking for simple dinner inspiration. Speaking of: What have you been making for dinner? Everything is insanely busy right now, but here are a few things I had this week: @hettymckinnon ’s dumpling tomato salad with chile crisp vinaigrette (a work of genius); meatballs from the freezer, extra sauce; cheeseburgers on the grill after dark. What are you cooking? Tell me everything in the comments. And click the link in bio to preorder the book!

It’s one month until pub date for “Easy Weeknight Dinners!” Our @nytcooking weeknight cookbook is being published on October 8, featuring recipes from @clarkbar , @ericjoonho , @yewande_komolafe , @itsalislagle , @thisiskaychun , @lideylikes , @heysueli , @foodieinnewyork , @chefrickmartinez , @kenjilopezalt and many others. It may not completely shock you to learn that in addition to being the editor in chief of NYT Cooking, I am a superfan of our recipes and make them all the time at home. Here are a few I’ve made for dinner recently: Pesto pasta, Caprese salad (I will forever defend my right to just have this for dinner with bread), roasted chickpeas with tomatoes and feta, crab cakes (make them or buy them, use fish, shrimp or crab), chicken zucchini meatballs. What easy dinners are you making this week? Comment with what you’re cooking and click the link in my bio to preorder the book.

Same for @stissinghouse - beat by beat perfection 4. A pie at the @has_dac_biet popup @gem.nyc 5. Shredded beef with green chiles @cafechina 6. Dingle pie from the @darina_allen lunch at @king.newyork - every dish a dream 7. Ravioli at @425restaurant @chefjgv 8. Wonton soup from @dim_sum_sam_ 9. Sardines at @cafecarmellini - the best I’ve ever had 10. Pain au chocolat at @lysee.nyc - went in thinking the famous corn mousse would be my favorite but this stole my heart (that’s chocolate ganache on top)

Some of the best restaurant things I ate this year — SWEET EDITION! With wishes for a sweet new year. A lot are from Copenhagen, where I went this fall … which was amazing. 1. Cardamom bun from @juno_the_bakery !!!!! The best I’ve ever tasted 2. Maple-soaked crepes at @cafemutton (where they also had great pastries) 3. Pecan tart from @cheztonton_nyc - run don’t walk! Everyone who tasted this sighed deeply afterward. It is sigh-inducing 4. Blintzes from @barneygreengrassnyc forever. I don’t know why people are obsessed with the lox and eggs. It is the blintzes, people 5. More heavenly Copenhagen pastries — this time from @apotek_57 (we also had amazing food up the block at @atelierseptember — including zucchini jam) 6. Chocolate cake at @ingasbarnyc 7. @nari_sf brilliance: their frozen pandan parfait 8 & 9. @nomacph . I finally went, and ate the Game & Forest menu. It was mind-blowing, and extremely delicious, and I would not say that if I didn’t mean it. It was also fun and warm and alive and I ate many exquisite courses that looked like this (the pine and woodruff caramel) 10. Not restaurant but — a bday cake for my oldest girl. Yellow cake, chocolate frosting. It’s @alisoneroman ’s recipe, though the recipe doesn’t call for it to be covered in tiny pictures of cats, which it obviously is. Bake for someone you love in 2024.
