On Earth Day, NationalSawdust+ announces two June evenings exploring how we create, discard, and listen more closely to the natural world around us.
what we keep, what we throw away
June 10
A multidisciplinary night of performance and conversation, moving between music, reading, film, and food. Exploring a zero-waste approach, it brings together luminaries Caroline Shaw, Sarah DeLappe, Shenarri Freeman, Melissa Clark, and Elena Park to consider what we keep, what we discard, and why.
Deep Nature Listening
June 16
An immersive experience of live performance, field recordings, and storytelling drawing on ecosystems from around the world. Led by David Rothenberg with Benjamin Gottesman, and featuring New Cicada Trio (Iva Bittová, Timothy Hill, and Rothenberg), the evening, curated by Elena Park, invites a deeper attention to the natural world and what’s at stake as habitats—and their soundscapes— change.

Just in time for Thanksgiving, we’re bringing you a special episode with Melissa Clark, the beloved @nytimes food writer and trusted voice behind some of the most popular recipes on @nytcooking . @clarkbar also has authored or co-authored 48 cookbooks, so it’s clear Melissa knows her stuff (and her stuffing).
She joins host @kerrybombe to talk Turkey 101—everything from brining to basting, roasting, resting, carving, and serving. And, of course, Melissa shares her favorite hacks for pulling off a stress-free holiday meal and weighs in on her top sides. (You can find Melissa’s Classic Thanksgiving Turkey recipe on NYT Cooking and her Turkey 101 video on YouTube.) 🦃🧡
Thank you to @jwmarriotthotels for supporting our show. This episode was recorded at Newsstand Studios at @rockefellercenter .

For food reporter and @nytcooking recipe columnist Melissa Clark, the most vital ingredient in any kitchen is curiosity. She encourages us to question the things we often take for granted — for example, how to salt our food — and reveals how a simple question can unlock a world of flavor and a more delightful life.
Please save the date! I'd love to see you there. And I couldn’t be more tickled silly to be in conversation with two of my favorite food writers of all time.
Please reserve - space is limited!
