“We have a policy decision to let wealthy, typically older people protect their house value while younger people cannot afford a basic house,” says Ramit Sethi.Sethi’s career in personal finance took off with his 2009 book, “I Will Teach You to Be Rich,” which has more than a million copies in print. Sports history is dotted with Darwinian anomalies like Tom Brady winning a playoff game at 44, Nolan Ryan firing a no-hitter at 44, or Dara Torres swimming to an Olympic silver medal at 41. What’s so compelling now is the sheer number of still-golden oldies.In 2018, when a member of LeBron James’s inner circle claimed that James was spending about $1.5 million a year on caring for his body, it accelerated an arms race across sports, helping to power a consumer-tech boom that has already trickled down to the $314 billion market for wearable devices that track things like sleep and heart rate. The through line, of course, is each songwriter’s ability to tell a story through evocative lyrics, wordplay and line delivery. We thought it wasn’t so different from what our @nytgames crossword constructors do every day, only in a grid instead of in song.Three of the songwriters on the list were up for testing our theory and Monday through Wednesday this week, we released a Mini Crossword made by one of the greatest living American songwriters.
