Workers who build #ThermalEnergyNetworks install high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes in trenches. Once operational, the pipes move warm water from building to building, where #HeatPumps extract thermal energy to warm a space. But how long do these systems last? Well, as Derek Kobe of Green Built Construction explains, “This pipe is going to last 100 years.” ⛰️In this #ThermalEnergyThursday video, we’re in Hayden, Colorado, where Bedrock Energy and the Town of Hayden are building a business park that will be heated and cooled by a thermal energy network — bringing new jobs and economic growth after the local coal plant closed. ➡️ Learn more about the benefits of TENs at the link in our bio. Huge thanks to Bedrock and Hayden for letting us share your project! 🙌 🎥 Film by @morningpeopleprod

“There’s no question it’s in the best interest of any utility to take on a geothermal program.” Boyd Lee, owner of Outside the Box Geo, knows what he is talking about. During his years working for electric cooperative utilities in Oklahoma, he pioneered a ground-source heat pump installation program for co-op members. The heat pumps were so efficient that their performance benefitted all members’ electricity rates, whether they had installed a heat pump or not. 💰 Want to hear more about Boyd’s program? Subscribe to our newsletter to read an upcoming case study explaining how geothermal heat pumps prevented rate increases for co-op members. #ThermalEnergyThursday #Geothermal #HeatPumps 🎥 Film by @morningpeopleprod

The knowledge of prior oil and gas workers is leading the way for this thermal energy network in Colorado. Fernando Aguilera, Operations Lead, Bedrock Energy, explains in this video. 🍿 Thermal energy networks (TENs) and geothermal heating and cooling draw from a wide array of skills that exist in the oil and gas industries, like drilling, trenching, and pipelaying. Existing workers’ safety mindsets and expertise are a boon to decarbonizing buildings at scale, and in turn, TENs and neighborhood-scale geothermal heat pumps provide new job opportunities in a growing industry. ⛰️This discussion was filmed in Hayden, Colorado, where Bedrock Energy and the Town of Hayden are building a new business park heated and cooled by ambient #geothermal, providing energy resiliency to a rural mountain community. 🎥 Film by @MorningPeopleProd #ThermalEnergyThursday #EnergyTransition
