THIS SUNDAY MAY 17TH @cafemutton is HERE. Tickled that @lordgristle accepted our invite to come down and cook cause I’m not exactly sure how @coolpartytime would’ve handled the rejection.
Save the 36hr commute on Amtrak and just park in our lot for the full Mutton experience via a laser focused menu of the hits.
🍽️ Pork and Trotter sausage w/ marinated beans and aioli
🍽️ Cold, Dressed Beef Tongue w/ lots of herbs
🍽️ Cucumber, Radish, and Sardine salad w/ buttermilk dressing
Only makes sense that @coolpartytime picks the bevs and that @fieldcubeladderhorseflowertest selects the records to raise the bratty vibes to the their highest. (That’s a good thing)
OK!

Wowowow! Is there anything more magical than a giant bowl of cake floating in custard? In this iteration, we are spooning poached rhubarb over top 👠 available tonight and all weekend
This week’s newsletter is about spring being real, vegetables being real, Miss Frizzle, using classic techniques for both good and evil, and vegemite. If you want to be encouraged to experiment, this one is for you. We even included a recipe for a dish we are running on our dinner menu right now!
We still have seats open for this Sunday’s Long Lunch! Menu TBD, but here are some photos from past lunches. Craving adventure? Craving a feast? This is your opportunity to have both! Sit with a motley crew of strangers, listen to records, drink wine, and eat a lot. Grab tickets on our resy page :)
Three bangers on this week:
Boiled asparagus with vegemite sauce
Cold white asparagus with gribiche
Bluefish with potato chip and trotter salad
YAY come eat here!
This week’s newsletter consists of vaguely coherent and mildly cohesive ruminations on family, working in an industry that never slows down for anything, how families change to make space for that work, and the implications of that change. How do we convince family that we are here for them in spite of years of evidence to the contrary? I will not answer those questions, which is annoying, but I will say words about the topic. I’ve recently witnessed a lot of different ways that people show up for family while working in restaurants, and I would love to hear about how other people navigate this complicated lifestyle.
