La Doña is celebrating the release of her new record this Friday at The UC Theatre, and you’d better be there. She’s one of the defining voices in the Bay Area, not just as a musician, but as an educator, activist, and preservationist of Latinx traditions like corrido, bolero, cumbia, and mariachi. With Corrientes, she stretches that vision across borders, collaborating with musicians throughout the U.S., Mexico, Cuba, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic. The album moves through rumba, merengue, bachata, cumbia, and son jarocho, creating something vibrant, communal, and deeply rooted in openness and exchange. It’s the sound of tradition traveling and evolving in real time. See you there! Total Accord Fest is back June 3rd through 20th across San Francisco, with artists like Brijean and The Seshen plus a stacked local lineup. We’re breaking down all 13 shows and why they matter. On Sunday, June 7th, Media Meltdown and 4 Star Theater present a Total Accord night that feels like the festival turning itself inside out. Festival headliners The Seshen top the bill, with AroMa in support, plus drag performances from Mojo Carter, Piranha Psychotronica, and Kafkax, music videos from across the lineup, and a White Crate documentary premiere about the people behind Total Accord. The Seshen are a six-piece Bay Area band built around Lalin St. Juste and Akiyoshi Ehara. Their sound blends R&B, synth-pop, electronic music, hip hop, and indie influences into something fluid and hard to categorize, driven by synths, drum machines, live percussion, and layered vocals. It’s sleek but emotional, experimental but still rooted in groove. AroMa brings raw, high-voltage performance energy from Oakland. Their music moves between alternative rock, soul, funk, hip hop, and new wave, but the core is emotional intensity and live presence. Drawing from performers like Nina Simone and Grace Jones, AroMa’s sets feel like they’re constantly pushing toward release, using the stage as a space for vulnerability and resistance. This isn’t just a stacked bill, it’s a full sensory cross-section of what Total Accord is about. Total Accord Fest is back June 3rd through 20th at venues throughout San Francisco, with artists like Brijean and The Seshen plus a stacked local lineup. We’re breaking down all 13 shows and why they matter. On Friday, June 5th, Total Accord links with BFF.FM for a happy hour show on the patio at El Rio for a sharp left turn into something darker and more kinetic, with System Exclusive and Sara Said So, plus food from Pizza On The Fly. System Exclusive sits right at the intersection of machine and emotion. Cold synth lines, live drums that hit a little harder than you expect, and vocals that cut through with real vulnerability. They’ve been living on the road, literally, chasing that feeling from room to room, and it shows in how locked-in and immediate their set feels. Sara Said So brings a more rock band vibe, but keeps that intensity. Melodic indie rock with weight behind it, pulling from 90s textures and building into something full and immersive without losing the hook. It’s one of those pairings that makes sense once you’re in it. Different approaches, same emotional charge, all at a venue that knows how to hold it. If you want a show that leans a little louder, a little darker, and still hits you right in the chest, this is the perfect show for you. This Friday, May 15th, La Doña and Buscabulla take over The UC Theatre, but what really makes this feel special is that it’s a celebration of La Doña’s incredible new album Corrientes. La Doña has become one of the defining voices in the Bay Area, not just as a musician, but as an educator, activist, and preservationist of Latinx traditions like corrido, bolero, cumbia, and mariachi. Then there’s Buscabulla, the Puerto Rican synth-pop duo whose music blends Caribbean rhythms with dreamy, experimental pop. Their hazy grooves and vintage shimmer make them a perfect match for a night centered around movement, connection, and reinvention. This is bigger than just a concert. It’s a hometown celebration for one of the Bay’s most important artists stepping into a bold new chapter, and that’s why this is White Crate’s Show of the Week. Total Accord Fest is back June 3rd through 20th at venues throughout San Francisco, with artists like Brijean and The Seshen plus a stacked local lineup. We’re breaking down all 13 shows and why they matter. On the night of Thursday, June 4th, Total Accord teams up with BFF.FM at El Rio for Marika Christine’s album release show, with Ryli in support and DJ sets from Discnogirl. Marika Christine’s music leans into softness without losing its center. Laurel Canyon folk, indie pop, a little haze around the edges, it all comes together in songs that feel warm but clear-eyed, like they’ve lived a little. Ryli brings a full-band, sunlit sound built on dreamy vocals, chiming guitars, and propulsive rhythms. It’s immediate but lived-in, balancing introspective lyrics with a kind of restless energy that really opens up live. And then Discnogirl takes it into motion, but with range. His sets are usually high-impact, pulling from juke, footwork, house, and more, but expect him to shape things to the night, easing into something that fits the room while still keeping that pulse underneath. If you want an intimate night with thoughtful storytelling and fantastic curation, this is an easy yes, and a perfect way to drop into the festival. Total Accord Fest is back June 3rd through 20th at venues throughout San Francisco, with artists like Brijean and The Seshen plus a stacked local lineup. We’re breaking down all 13 shows and why they matter. On Thursday, June 4th, things start a little softer out on the patio at El Rio. Total Accord teams up with BFF.FM for a happy hour show with Sarah Coolidge and Caroline Wolfson, plus BBQ from NVR OVR. Sarah Coolidge’s songs feel like flipping through a secret diary. Indie rock meets folk, with lyrics that zoom in on everyday moments and somehow make them hit a little harder. Caroline Wolfson brings a different kind of stillness. Her voice pulls you in first, then the writing lands, reflective, sharp, and quietly heavy in the best way. It’s low-key, it’s intimate, and it’s the kind of early evening show where you can actually take it all in, while enjoying some delicious barbecue while surrounded by fellow music lovers on El Rio’s beautiful patio. If you’re easing into the festival, this is a pretty great place to start. Total Accord Fest is back June 3rd through 20th at venues throughout San Francisco, with artists like Brijean and The Seshen plus a stacked local lineup. We’re breaking down all 13 shows and why they matter. On Wednesday, June 3rd at the Bottom of the Hill, the Total Accord Fest kickoff party brings together Davia Schendel, Outer Sunset, and For Horses for a tight, high-impact start to the festival. Davia Schendel opens things up in a more cinematic lane. Her sound moves between rock, art-pop, and jazz, with this surreal, introspective quality that feels rooted in San Francisco but never stuck in one place. Outer Sunset follows with that early 2000s alt-rock DNA, the kind that feels instantly familiar but still fresh. They’ve been steadily building momentum around the city, and this set feels like catching them right as things are clicking. Then For Horses closes it out, loud and melodic, pulling from that Breeders and Veruca Salt lineage but pushing it into something more urgent and communal. Big hooks, sharp lyrics, and a live show that doesn’t hold back. If you’re looking for the right way to step into Total Accord Fest, this is it. Three bands, three distinct sounds, one room, and a perfect launch point for everything that follows. Program Audio’s new compilation is why I’m moving to San Francisco. Not really. But picture this: I’m head-bobbing down the stairs carrying a 30-pound box to the sound of 3:33’s “WYWD.” Next, I’m assembling a bed frame to the deconstructed club thrum of “Piedras Negras.” Then it’s back up the stairs to Liano’s loose, off-the-cuff hip-hop. Featuring 10 different artists from across the globe, the compilation’s sound travels on its own journey. From the synth-heavy lo-fi house of “Fresh & Best II,” to the hypnotic ambience vår creates on final track “Closet Yi,” the whole thing moves like flan—the dessert, not the artist—bouncy, soft, and just structured enough to hold its shape before slipping into something else.  Even better: All proceeds from Program Audio Compliation #001 go to the National Immigrant Justice Center, which provides legal aid and advocacy for immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. That detail reframes everything. The Spanish-language titles stop feeling aesthetic and start reading as subtle, but intentional connective tissue. Program Audio’s founders Erika and Arthur are Bay Area natives, and it shows. In the Bay Area—where roughly a third of residents are foreign-born—projects like this don’t exist in a vacuum. They reflect the communities around them. Between underground parties and the recent transformation of a 59-year-old Fotomat into a radio station, Program Audio isn’t just curating a sound. They’re building a scene. So thank you, Program Audio, for the auditory adrenaline—and for making the San Francisco sound a little harder to ignore. See the Program Audio crew—including erika, sfcowboy, DJ Panderer, and AGROPOL—play Function 500 on Thursday, May 7 at Public Works. KQED Fest is back on Saturday, May 9th, turning the radio station’s Mission District headquarters into a full-on block party with live music curated by Noise Pop, studio tours, food trucks, art, games, and one of the strongest local lineups you could ask for. Headlining is Ruby Ibarra, the Bay Area rapper and spoken word artist who won NPR’s 2025 Tiny Desk Contest. Her work blends sharp lyricism, cultural storytelling, and real emotional weight, and this hometown set feels like a huge moment. You’ve also got Misa James bringing soulful songwriting shaped by Motown, R&B, and live theater instincts, plus Agua Pura, the all-female and queer salsa group turning every performance into a joyful explosion of rhythm, movement, and community. The Story Time Band brings something completely different, transforming children’s books into playful live music performances that somehow manage to be charming for kids and adults at the same time. And throughout the day, DJ Sizzle Fantastic keeps the energy moving with sets rooted in cumbia, Afro-Latin sounds, and community-centered dance music culture. Free, all ages, and packed with some of the most vibrant corners of Bay Area creativity, this feels less like a festival and more like a snapshot of the region itself, which is why this is White Crate’s Show of the Week.
