short film we produced for The Royal Society — The Ethical Science of Kathleen Lonsdale — has been nominated for a @thewebbyawards in the Science & Education category. The film features Dame Maggie Aderin-Pocock and Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell FRS, exploring Lonsdale’s remarkable life — from her pioneering work on crystal structures to her lifelong commitment to pacifism and ethical science. Part of the competition is decided by public vote — if you have a moment, please vote and share. Link in bio. Kathleen Lonsdale was an extraordinary figure. She grew up in poverty, was the only girl studying physics in a boys’ school, and achieved the top physics results in London over a ten-year period. She went on to help transform our understanding of atomic structure, was imprisoned for her pacifist beliefs, and later became a leading prison reformer and advocate for ethical science. The world needs more people like her — now more than ever. Yet her story remains largely unknown. Please vote for the film so her story spreads a bit further. /PublicVoting#/2026/video-film/general-video-film/science-education @spiritedpics @petermannpictures @theroyalsociety @jeromemonnot @oscaroldershaw @jfcampbell__ @romainkedochim @mrrichardking #kathleenlonsdale #womeninstem #prisonreform #crystallography #pacifism

Very proud to share this short documentary I produced and directed in close collaboration with Rachel Lowe, head of the Global Health Resilience Group at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center @bsc_cns , commissioned by Felipe J Colón-González and Isabel Fletcher at @wellcometrust From the heart of the Amazon to one of the worlds fastest computer, the project explores innovative solutions to address infectious diseases driven by extreme climate events, environmental degradation, and socio-economic inequality. 🌎 🎬 🦟 🇧🇷 🇨🇴 By combining satellite data, seasonal climate forecasts, and advanced computing with local knowledge, Harmonize interdisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and community organisations is creating practical, easy-to-use digital tools to track and predict disease outbreaks. The goal is to give policymakers clear, actionable information to strengthen health systems, build climate resilience, and reduce the impact of vector-borne diseases. How can drones be used for good? When you hear about drones, you might think of surveillance or conflict. But with this research project, drones are lifesavers. HARMONIZE is using aerial images to pinpoint disease hotspots. This technology then helps communities and health workers respond to infectious diseases, like dengue, which are become more prevalent as a result of climate change. As the world warms, new methods like this can help us adapt.

SAFE — a poetic act of presence, resistance, joy, and vulnerability, made by and within trans, queer, and non-binary lives. Our answer to @ladydangfua Trans & Conditions call to the @circa.art 20:25 Manifesto, REFUGIA — to put our message boldly on the Piccadilly Lights @piccadillylights - screaming with reverence that trans rights are human rights, and that our public culture must carry public care and safety for all. Although refuge is fragile, and safety a privilege in our world, we celebrate beauty and fight, always, for peace and human rights. Set to a poem ‘Safe’ by Jason Potts, this short film conveys a powerful message, reclaiming Soho’s public light as a space for belonging, protest and unapologetic life.

The brilliant Brighton Rocks Film Festival @brightonrocksfilms gave Trust an Honourable Mention! Proud of this one @spiritedpics @mrrichardking @jeromemonnot @stephenlongwill @nihr_research . Tomorrow, we screen #Trust to a packed audience at a Rebuilding Trust, Advancing Inclusion event at the stunning @everymancinema , Borough Yards, SE1, hosted with the North London NIHR Research Delivery Network, Paddington Life Sciences, and Imperial Health Charity. With leaders from the #NHS, #NIHR, academia, industry, and our vibrant communities, we look to confront health inequalities and drive real change. 📢 The event is a Call To Action. Especially given the divisive, misleading narratives in global politics, we need a bold, defiant path forward. Health inequity driven by poor research inclusion is not simply about social injustice but an issue of bad science. #Mistrust is a major global challenge that needs to be addressed with transparency, understanding, compassion, and far better communication. This is essential for modern healthcare to do what it’s meant to do—work for everyone, not just some. With #NIHR, we’re excited to host screenings at community and NHS sites over the year before the film drops on YouTube! Co-produced with @spiritedpics

Grateful, Proud, Faith (in the journey), Reflective, Honoured (to have worked with @spiritedpics & the amazing contributors).. Some feelings now our film making journey has come to an end. We premiered our public engagement film on Wednesday, ‘TRUST - Overcoming Mistrust in Health Research’ followed by a profoundly reflective panel discussion at the @cwpluscharity Medi-Cinema Chelsea & Westminster NHS Hospital. A real honour to direct this film and to be given the opportunity to create something meaningful and deeply necessary, with the supremely talented @mrrichardking & @jeromemonnot from @spiritedpics (animation by @stephenlongwill ) for the NIHR Research Delivery Network, North London. Over 30 community and health/research contributors (including the brilliant @doctorchrisvt ) involving 7 NHS Hospitals, 3 community organisations and the first GP clinical research facility in London. Filming in multiple London locations, including the Amazing @tavaresstrachan exhibition, Haywards @southbankcentre To #BuildTrust, truth, compassion, humility, and equal partnerships are essential. Acknowledging the historical abuse in clinical research is crucial, yet it is equally important to highlight that without the involvement of marginalised groups in research today, modern healthcare risks being less relevant and effective for them. A massive Thank You to all involved, we can’t wait to get this out there for you!! #collectivedialogue #LeaveNoOneBehind #Filmmaking #NIHR #Spirited #TrustInHealthcare #HealthInequality #InclusiveResearch #EquityByDesign #ClinicalResearch #Community #Collaboration #HealthInnovation #MaternalHealth #MentalHealth #SickleCell #ComplexHealthNeeds
