Gorilla
by Isla Pérez (11)
Gorilla,
Silver backed, pure black,
Muscles working.
Gorilla,
Loving caring, always sharing,
Milk with its young.
Gorilla,
Tropical bear, finds the glare,
Of leopard lurking.
Gorilla,
Swipes and swipes, and swipes again,
Blood is washed off by the rain.
Gorilla,
Sees the glint of hunters gun,
Turns around and starts to run.
Does not make it far.
Gorilla,
Chest is rising falling, falling rising,
This is what gorilla baby saw.
Hoping dreaming, loving,
Seeing the chest rise and fall.
And never rise again.
