Though one wouldn’t describe Richard’s work in narrative terms, it was coherent, deliberate, and piercing.
He didn’t engage in mentorship in a traditional sense, instead opening up his artistic home to countless artists, to not only witness his process, but to have an active hand in it. And of course to launch their own work.
Working with Richard, whom I adored, and with each artist who benefited from his generosity, was a great, great joy. He taught us all so much.
