How do you sum up a downtown life that has stretched nearly five decades? 🎭
ㅤ
In this installment of "La MaMa Conversations" — our series sitting down with influential artists who have shaped NYC's downtown theatre scene — Erick Alonso talks with Nicky Paraiso.
ㅤ
Nicky is an actor, musician, writer, curator, and the Director of Programming for The Club at La MaMa. He was honored at the 69th Obie Awards with the inaugural Morgan Jenness Award for his contributions to theatre across the 2024-2025 season and his remarkable career. He's also the mind behind "Christmas in Nickyland," a fixture in La MaMa's holiday calendar for more than two decades.
ㅤ
In this conversation, he talks about the first show he ever saw at La MaMa, stories about his love life, and what it means to be a curator, performer, and cheerleader for downtown artists.
