Had a great time at
@cpffestival . Didn't scoop a wooden plate but DID get chance to see some incredible short films. Felt very honoured to be in such company!
My nomination was for editing, which made me realise how much I enjoyed that part of making my PhD poetry films. Playing around with snippets of footage gathered on location, and letting that prompt the poem. These films were experiments and I never really imagined taking any of them out to festivals, so thank you
@cmo_rg for the nudge (and
@helendewbery for the endorsement and budget!).
My own honourable mentions to these faves from the day:
@danielsroomfilm for folk horror brilliance
@reubenandco 's An Exercise in Perspective for a complex, punky and artful portrayal of sight loss
@tomjwoolley_ & co's I Am Toby for clever and minimally scripted intrigue
@micahhinchcliffe 's Floodlines for gorgeous and poetic depiction of place
@yahanouni - a masterclass in the microshort, which is still haunting me
And animations:
@jameslakesculpture 's awe-inspiring Another Day
@ofallthethingsfilm 's delicate and personal representation of hoarding
I could go on and on - so much to take away from the day!
Oh, lovely to see
@ow_directing there too! Ollie -
@ashconnaughtondp won for cinematography π
Congrats to all involved and big thanks to
