Tonight being the biggest film night of the year an’all with the @theacademy #oscars2026 kicking off soon, thought it was a great time to flag how many of the films in this year’s nominations for Best Picture felt stand out for me including #onebattleafteranother #traindreams #sinners #hamnet (also notably the only one of ten directed by a woman) and not to forget Del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein’.
This moment also reminds me of how privileged I felt to see my work in immersivefilmmaking featured in @definitionmags alongside a great article taking us behind the camera of said gothic epic with @dan.lausten , as well as a brilliant roundup of 2025’s stand out cinematography with work including ‘Adolescence’ 🙌 Link to full edition in bio

This month in 2024 @johnnydeep110 and I traveled to Iceland to attempt an ambitious world record under the ice dive of 182m.
We met up with the incredible team from @atlantic_studios with Director @cmikkelborg and local fixers @truenorth_nordic to make an immersive film about the record attempt for @apple .

This was the greatest adventure and easily the toughest challenge I’ve faced in freediving. With only 7 weeks training from a standing start, I had no idea whether I could pull it off. My longest swim under ice before this was 20m.
🧊I put the successful swim down to Johnny and the amazing team around me. All 14 incredible safety divers, the positivity, and the belief in me extended by everyone there.
The Kiwi reggae, and a killer game day plan, helped me with the rest!

A few people have asked how my collaboration with Coldplay began, so I thought I’d share a short version of the story. It all started with an unexpected phone call.
Back in 2018, I was in the Mediterranean filming a documentary series pilot for Disney+. One of our contributors — an extraordinary young female engineer — had met Chris Martin and the band when they visited the new city she had helped design and build in Palestine.
Unbeknownst to me, my cameraman shared a teaser from our shoot with her…and she must have passed it on to Chris.
Fast forward a few weeks and I was sitting in the CAA offices in LA, deep in prep for my Disney+ pitch, when I got a call from Atlantic Records asking if they could speak to Charlotte Mikkelborg. When they realised it was me on the phone, they told me one of their artists wanted to reach out directly. Would that be okay?
Minutes later, Coldplay’s manager Phil Harvey was on the phone asking if I might be free to come and meet Chris that afternoon. He’d seen my recent film — and liked it.
That serendipitous call turned into a six-year conversation, which culminated this year in my getting the opportunity to direct Coldplay: Music of the Spheres – An Immersive Experience with @resolvefilm for @iheartradio and @meta , straight off the back of completing ‘Adventure’ for @appletv .
If you own a Quest and haven’t experienced the concert yet, now’s the time. With the incredible MOTS tour on hiatus in 2026, this really is the best way to experience it this year.

We filmed during their August 2025 Wembley performances using a 15 camera set up of 180 degree cameras (12 REDs and 3 Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive cameras for higher resolution and utilizing complex grip including 4 tower cams, 2 railcams, two Steadicams and a Spidercam system) to bring the sights and sounds of the concert to life with stunning clarity, enabling audiences to experience the concert from perspectives that are impossible in real life. The project blends intimacy and large-scale spectacle.

Great to have my work recognised in Forbes today (link in bio) and to finally see immersive storytelling coming of age with coverage in major publications after a decade working in this space.
This article came about after I met journalist Jennifer Kite Powell at SXSW earlier this year. She sent me a Q&A and I wrote up detailed answers.
