đŹ Tech exec who makes films đ
đŞ Director in comp @ Venice Film Fest | Podcast host | TEDxspeaker
đ @computerweekly Most Influential Women in Tech
I cannot believe Iâm going to walk the red carpet as a Director of a project in competition at Venice FRIGGIN Film Festival đą.
@labiennale Venice Film Festival⌠the oldest and arguably most prestigious Film Festival in the world. Totally absurd! đ¤Ż
So many things I want to say & stories I want to tell about the last 2 years. Podcast will drop very soon (follow my stories for updates).
But for now all Iâll say is, if youâre making something right now - keep going!
I know itâs a brutal process of self-doubt, wanting to quit, relentless imposter syndrome but on the other side is that euphoric satisfaction knowing that you did something 99% of artists wonât do⌠which is finish! Drag your ass to that finish line or at least get yourself some friends that will do it for you haha!
â¨Thank you so much to everyone who made this possible - I love you & owe you many beers â¤ď¸đť.

Fun fact in the closing credits of all my VR projects I always give thanks to Lisa Fortescue-Poole who was my media teacher from the age of 15. She always encouraged me to pursue filmmaking & she was a constant light in my life at school. I hope one day she stumbles across one of my films & feels proud :).

We will also supply you with the relevant hardware e.g. VR headset, powerful-enough laptop etc if required.
Whatâs the one thing youâve been wanting to do forever?
The thing you keep saying âone dayâ about?
For me that thing was starting a podcast. And here I am 100 episodes later đâ¤ď¸. If I can do it, you can do it!
Start today. Whatever it is, just take 5 minutes.
Show up every day even if you donât feel like it. The consistency will lead to more motivation which will lead to more action which will lead to more consistency and before you know it youâll be a year into something youâve always wanted to do & be thinking - damn that went fast!!
Thank you so much if youâve listened to any episodes. Your support means the world to me â¤ď¸

Coming at you with some breaking news:
Turns out the best way to run a business & to succeed in whatever you want to do in life, is to treat other people the way you would want to be treated.
Damnnit I so badly didnât want to have to be clichĂŠ but folks, turns out the boomers were right all along about this one đ.
Treat people as people, not ATM machines.
Treat people as people, not numbers on your IG stats.
Treat people as people, not as background characters in the movie of your life.
Be a good person, get to know the people you want to work with, be kind & actually give a fuck!
Follow that advice & youâll be more successful than any asshole with a sales pitch I promise â¤ď¸

If youâre like me, youâre probably suffering from a severe lack of inspiration atm. And who can blame us? Every day is blurring into one!
So how do we get inspired as creatives while living Groundhog Day?
CHANGE YOUR DIGITAL ENVIRONMENT
Itâs no secret the online algorithms are feeding you the same kind of content, on the same subjects, by the same kind of people CONSTANTLY because they know what you like.
So in order to get new inspiration we need to break free of our echo chambers once in a while.
So hereâs some ideas for you to try:
1. Open an incognito window & go to YouTube to watch some random videos
2. Go to the podcast charts for a category you would never normally listen to
3. Switch Netflix profiles with someone in your family to watch something in a new genre.
4. Ask your friend with very different taste to recommend some new music.Â
5. Use a random website generator to explore new topics
Just do something to shake things up & I promise you at the very least youâll see what a big world it is outside your algorithm.

Admit it - every time you make a creative project you secretly think itâs going to change your life right?
Youâve spent weeks, months, maybe even years, pouring your heart into something.
And then you release it into the world and sure your friends and family love it... but itâs not quite the career defining moment you had built up in your head.
You think âWTF - I saw someone else release something way shitter than this the other week & they got 100k views, they got approached by an agent, they got selected for a big festival! Why hasnât that happened for me?â
Well my friend, in todayâs episode of the podcast weâre talking hard truths. The difference between making creative work & getting creative work seen. And how you can improve your chances of making work that will be seen by the people you want to see it!!

Are you sitting around debating how much to charge instead of getting out there & doing what you love?
In todayâs episode of the podcast weâre talking about day rates. How do you set your rates? Should you even be worrying about rates? Why are project fees better than rate cards?
Give it a listen & let me know how you go about setting your rates in the comments below đ.
