A new initiative by the Dallas Film Commission, Screen Dallas annually awards one feature-length documentary with a week-long theatrical run, offering filmmakers a cost-free pathway to qualify for the Academy Awards.
Screen Dallas will provide the services of Dr. Rebekah Smith, The Film FestivalDoctor free of
charge to the selected filmmaker. This will ensure the filmâs screening, marketing materials, and reporting align with the Academy of MotionPicture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) eligibility

To kick-off the initiative, Screen Dallas has selected Shuffle!!!
The program will culminate in an exclusive invite-only, red-carpet screening of Shuffle at the Texas Theater on Sept 23rd.
We are deeply grateful and look forward to our collaboration with Screen Dallas and the Dallas Film Commission on what will be not only an incredible opportunity for Shuffle, but a crucial avenue of support for independent filmmakers for years to come.
A massive shout out to Dallas Film Commissioner Katie Schuck and her team for spearheading this new initiative.

Incredibly proud of the team behind @kissmygrassdoc which will be making its premiere @tribeca in June. Directed by Mary Pryor and @marathemermaid . Executive produced by Rosario Dawson, @kaepernick7@nwhiteman@hilaryyuuuuu . Produced by @saki_mcsaki@juxtaposerrrr and myself. A co-production between @objectandanimal and @j.u.x.t.a.p.o.s.e . This film tackles the injustice for women of color in the cannabis industry and we canât be more thrilled to share this story on this stage. Thanks to everyone involved and please keep tracking with us.
With gratitude and joy I am so proud of the team behind behind this film. When I was asked to join this team it was a yes immediately. Subject matter important and personal to me and a group of people whose singular focus was to draw attention to this story which would lead to change and hopefully change the stigma behind addiction. Director @benjaminflaherty is proof that you donât need anything but a purpose to make a film that will resonate with its powerful message. âThrough the lens of his own recovery, a filmmaker offers an intimate look inside the billion-dollar addiction treatment industry where young people are bought and sold for their insurance policies and ushered into a system designed to keep the sick.â The team and film took home the Grand Jury award for best documentary @sxsw which will now help us spread the message far and wide. Please follow along and join our impact campaign Big thanks to the producing team @purplebeeee@artemisfish@scottpaskoff@maydaymalloy for bringing me and @objectandanimal into the fold. If you know anyone suffering from addiction lead with compassion and surround them with love. âSHUFFLEâ
Really proud to announce that âShuffleâ has been selected to premiere at SXSW this coming March. Thanks to the team for bringing me into this incredibly important film about recovery in America. Through the lens of our directors own recovery, he offers an intimate look inside the billion dollar addiction treatment industry where young people are bought and sold for their insurance policies and ushered into a system of care designed to keep them sick. Please follow our films festival run and impact campaign to follow. Directed by Benjamin Flaherty and produced by Carra Greenberg, Harris Fishman and Scott Paskoff. #sxsw2025
