From our first meeting 14 years ago, I was entranced by your bottomless warmth, tireless work ethic and pure joie de vivre. And once we actually got real time together a couple years later, I was fully captivated - I knew I needed more of you in my life. Wanting to be in your orbit was honestly the main reason for my move to Toronto, and that year of becoming truly close with you remains one of the most cherished chapters of my life. You’re a ride-or-die friend, and you inspire me daily to trust my heart and live more freely.
Working so closely with you on Daughters only deepened my admiration. That film is your heart on celluloid - and you are the reason it has touched the world the way it has. I saw a side of you most people don’t: fierce, relentless, unbreakable. With so much working against you, your energy and determination are the reason that film exists. Full stop.
And thank you for the magic of last week - the joy, the connection, the laughter. That’s you. The way you love people, the souls you attract, the community you create - it’s rare, and it’s powerful.
