Big numbers lately. (relative to audience size) Some of the top performing organic uploads on the clients’ / subjects’ pages of all time. Nice to see the creations perform in front of a larger audience, as well as deliver the people that have trusted me: some of their best performers. I started video editing when I was 13 years old: video game montages for shooters, SC2 top200, & WoW, processed my first film 🎞️ photos when I was 18 in the dark rooms at OCC from cameras I rented from the photography department & film my sister @flourismyfriend bought for me using money she worked for. When I started my first business in 2014 in Irvine, I had to build my own product, iterate on it, & pitch people to see if it was good enough to pay for. It took me 6 weeks of pitching every day from 8am to 11pm to get my first sale for $299, and then I didn’t get my second sale until month 5. Lol. But running my own business right out of college with no boss, I had to develop my own products to offer, sales processes, fulfillment, customer service SOPs, customer journey & retention ops, business management systems, and more, and iterate on them with no guidelines other than my own observations & tireless pursuit of perfection (thanks @timferriss ). (Eventually had incredible people help along the way, like @kr1spy8 at my first location, then others much later you know who you are) I say that all to say, this didn’t come from nothing, and I’m thankful for the experiences and how they’ve equipped me with a well-rounded perspective to be able to serve creatively, with a strong understanding of service to community, a simultaneous service to brands’ business needs, & with time: hopefully the world beyond. Thanks for supporting me if you’ve read this far, and thanks for staying in my circle here on instagram. I have the greatest appreciation for everyone that’s trying, giving, sharing, supporting, and putting good into the world. My jaw dropped when I stumbled into @sideshowbooks a couple of months ago. Just look at it. 🤌🏼💯 There are books of all sorts, vintage & beyond. People donate relics, too, and they stock the shelves. The views, and the owner is the nicest, book fanatic. He offers espresso, so you can browse & stay awhile. And it's organized well interestingly. Can't believe this is in Los Angeles. #book #books #bookstore #losangeles #reading #writing #photography #photoshoot #streetphoto #espresso #sonyalpha 📸 Shot with @sonyalpha a1 + 24-70mm GM-ii 🎬 Post Magic with @adobe @lightroom

In late 2008 I knocked on the back door of Bouchon Beverly Hills. I was about 20 and just leaving a budding career in aerospace. I knew nothing about the kitchen, but I was able to land a Stage early on. I have to admit it was pretty intimidating walking into that kitchen for the first time. It looked immaculate, everybody dressed in white coats, French blue aprons, & not a stain on them. Spotless kitchen, everybody in unison yelling Yes Chef! to Rory Hermann’s commands. I watched in awe. I started out by learning from guys like Chef Johnny about standards. I was a rookie. They were veterans. Every cook in LA wanted the chance to work here. I stood at the end of that pass every day for what added up to be 3 years. I started as a stage then commis then on the line I worked the entire day, morning to night there, open to close just hoping to get an opportunity to learn from my peers when I was done with my work. I wouldn't leave lol Chef Rory had me stand at the far end of the kitchen near the Chefs desk as he would share his philosophies. I would listen and watch. Also where the fish station was, you were there at the time, chef @johnnyrayzone . I learned a lot from you by watching and running around like a madman trying to help wherever I could. Bouchon became my home and everybody there became family. it was a place of learning, but also place where we could be honest with one another and reinforce the why behind practicing excellence. You always had high standards, Chef. And even when we were busy, you would remind me of why we were there and not somewhere where nobody cared. --- Chef Rory created leaders that created leaders. #yeschef #thankyou #mentors 🎥: @patrickhuynguyen

Granted, it's far from finished, balanced, or unproblematic... as there is a long, long way to go to create some adequate equitability of peace, opportunity, & wellness for people of every ethnic background globally... but I think we've made progress. At least from the bottom. It's sometimes crazy to think slavery was only abolished 150 years ago, women were only granted equal constitutional right in 1972 (50 yrs ago), and Asians only have gotten widespread representation in media within the last 10 years. The truth is: total equality will never exist, logically. Such a thing would only be possible if robots or another entity overtook the human mind and create perfect equality. As long as we have varied looks & every individual has a different preferred way of living, there will be struggle, tug, and "sides" being created, out of a desire for self-preservation and in fear of what is unfamiliar. But, with work, and the realization that (as Aristotle once proposed suggested in 400BC aka 2,425 years ago) as citizens of planet Earth: we would achieve best likelihood of long-term survival as a whole, and happiness as a whole, by working together, sharing resources, and sacrificing maximal personal gain, than we would by hoarding and playing selfishly, perhaps we can achieve some semblance of good living conditions for all people everywhere. #humanity #equality #philosophy #aapi #criticalthinking Tagging some Asian-owned Businesses I enjoy below, because the work for progress is always on-going: @steep_la @eat.salo @thedumplingomakase @sassygirlweddings @movement.lifestyle @standstill.tea @nomads__table @kobo.table @nabi_experience @rooted.fare @flybyjing @626hospitalitygroup @bloomsandpoems @zhuology.ceramics @cafetondo @tea__at__shiloh @re__caphe @contracoffeeandtea @flowsandcreates @nin___cupcakeshop @sportyandrich @emilyoberg @loopespressoclub @kissa_cora @double_dragonbbq @familystylefest @alilpeckish And if you enjoyed this, follow me for more think-pieces, growth, & art content. 🙂‍↕️🙏🏼🌱💌

Sometimes the internet has us thinking life is about the great & grand-- big wins & achievements, but 99% of life isn't spectacle. Even for an Olympic athlete: Gold at the Olympics is a performance that's only minutes-long, and even for them: most of life is not on stage. Life is the everyday. And how ours will turn out: largely depends on how special we can make what is otherwise just a day that's easily looked-past. #thoughts #perspective #writing #wisdom #life Mother's Day 2026.05.10

So last year...I tried literally every chili oil on the shelf at the asian grocery store. Every. Single. Brand. 😂 Also let my family and friends try too, and the favorite was... 👑 @officialboonsauce Some of the other brands' flavor was either off, or their spice level was not there, or they had an after taste honestly. Boon's was the only one that nailed the taste and the heat properly. That's why they won imo. Personally, I like the Extra Hot, which you can identify by the logo with flames. I get mine from @winestop in Arts District. They were at the @steep_la Holiday Market this past weekend with a mapo tofu chili cheese crunch, which sounds criminally good, but I was caught up shooting so didn't get any #nexttime 😩🙏🏼 #chilioil #chilicrunch #officialboonsauce @fujifilmx_us

Japanese records 🎶 city pop, jpop @tsuguitagaki told me he just opened @weshare_records in Japantown, LA just the past week or so. Really looking forward to checking it out asap. Was really popular at the @steep_la Holiday Market. Caught this iconic moment of him holding The Score by @fugeesworldwide --an album I grew up listening to on repeat because of my sister @sassygirlweddings . One of my favorite photos from the weekend. #records #music #citypop #losangeles #vinyl

There are few ice cream places in LA as fresh, while being as flavorful as @626hospitalitygroup 's. Especially invoking beloved asian flavors, while also using real fruit that you can taste. Sweets can be pretty synthetic often, so it's nice being able to get ice cream that tastes good that also doesn't hurt your stomach. Here are some fly-by captures of 626 from @steep_la 's 2025 Holiday Market this past weekend & 2025 Summer Market. #icecream #626 #losangeles 🎥: @sonyalpha 📸: @fujifilmx_us

A lot of people talk about community, but few foster it. One of the first things that made me become a fan of @steep_la is seeing how @liltiny_lyz activates community every moment she's able to. From using Steep's platform to shine light on other businesses in the community, to personally getting to know people that come through Steep, and never using the size of a project any community member is building as a reason to not platform or uplift & work with them. With the drinks, she and @samuelswang want a place on the menu for earnest team members to have their creation. With the events, they want them to be collaborative & giving. The community isn't something they use, like other brands like to do; genuinely, they're there for the community, and that's something I've grown to appreciate. I was only there for video yesterday, but here are some moments from yesterday's 2025 Holiday Market of people coming together. More coming when i've a moment 🙏🏼📸
