I hope I made you proud~ Dear inner child, when I close my eyes, I still see the sizzle of the egg on the pan, as 5 year old me stood on the step stool with my mom. I still remember telling my friends in preschool my mom made the most delicious food when they asked why my lunch smelled weird. I remember in elementary bringing thermoses the size of my backpack with little bowls to section off rice, meat, and veggies so everything was fresh as everyone stared. I remember in 4th grade being bullied and I fell into depression, I held a knife to my stomach and cried. I remember in middle school bringing a rice cooker to school and heating my lunch, fending off people trying to steal my food. I remember being bullied for wearing avante garde clothes from Hong Kong that I fell in love with. I remember in high school, I tried to dim my light by dressing like everyone else. I remember my senior year finding my place in fashion, starting with dapperwear and mixing streetwear. I remember in the pandemic learning how to make clothes. I remember my promise to myself in college to create a fit everyday when stepping out to challenge my creativity. I remember the day I decided to combine my passions for food and fashion. To my inner child, I write to you. I love you and Im so proud of you. You met every challenge with a smile, you planted your feet and did not waver based on what people said about you. You cried and asked for help from those you love. You went through all that so I can get where I am today. This one is for you. My little culinary stylist, im so so proud of you.
