This Sunflower was created for @objectwithlove ❤️ – for Home Sweet Home at @mad.brussels In December 2024, Connie Hüsser invited me to design a birdhouse. I wondered what comfort would look like if I was a small bird. Food closeby, organic, hidden shelters - places where leaves and petals become a blanket and an umbrella to stay unseen. Naturally I was drawn to the Sunflower that embodies this perfectly. Their seeds attract species like finches and sparrows, while their majestic, changing form offers shade, rest and protection. In bloom, petals and leaves provide hiding places. Once dried, their tall heads become natural perches and little beds. This piece was another challenging aluminium piece made at @makeeindhoven . 1st 5 pictures by @margotlecoutere 5 : Photo by @mpwildlife - Sunflower paradise 6 : goldfinch eating sunflower seeds 7: screenshot from a video showing golden sparrows sleeping on dried sunflowers #sunflowers🌻 #birdhouse #wallpiece #collectible

Wood carving and sculpting. Another material and techniques you will see me working with from now on. For this totem for @collectiefzijspoor I used 4 blocks of pearwood I bought exactly 9 years ago at the @designacademyeindhoven because I found the wood beautiful. And now was the time to do something with it. When I started carving, I realised some green parts that intrigued me. When researching on it, I learnt that it is a specific fungus that spreads when the wood is moist and must have stopped spreading when it was dried. Apparently this type of natural fungus green has been used in wood inlay during the Italian Renaissance to create colored images, like landscapes. Which is fascinating !! (as nature always is) And it motivates me to continue working with wood as well. And yes it is another material/technique in my practice. This exact diversity of techniques I use allows me to create dialogues where the materiality emphasises a suggested memory or contemplative moment, a fascination. I can create a rhythm in space you have to walk through like different moments in a music. You have to go through them to feel and understand. Objects become windows opening up immaterial spaces. So one of the questions I have in my process, is what technique can I use to carve weave or sculpt this other space I would like to project myself in. With wood, metal, textile and maybe other materials, every piece comes to life slowly. They all have the trace of a stretched time, one I wish to all. Photo credits : Thank you to @margotlecoutere for the 1st and 4th picture ⭐

Glad Iam taking part in the exhibition NOT(ES) FOR LATER From March 11th to 14th Opening hours : 2 pm - 6 pm Vernissage: Thursday 12 March, from 18:00_22:00 This exhibition imagines a near future — a gentle, satirical utopia in which professional power dynamics have shifted. Echoing the dual identity of Cloud Seven as both an exhibition space and a coworking venue, the scenography takes the form of a meeting room frozen in time: abandoned desks, cooled coffee, handwritten notes, glowing screens… The office becomes the archive of a world that operates differently. A work of fiction used as a critical tool to question our present realities. SCENES FROM THE STUDIO 𝑶𝒍𝒈𝒂 𝑭𝒍𝒐́𝒓 (@olg.fl ) has a studio at MORPHO Stuivenberg, on the first floor of the gatehouse of a former hospital. The artist gives us an intimate look behind the scenes of her recent work process, which results in her participation in the group show HOME SWEET HOME at @mad.brussels , where more than 75 birdhouses are reinvented by renowned Belgian and international designers. Olga Flór explores our surroundings valuing abandoned spaces, everyday environments, and memories as meaningful connections with reality, as traces of our passage. Through design she suggests alternative ways to experience and perceive our environment, emphasizing our relationship with objects and things. By prioritising contemplation in our materialistic and image-driven society, Olga depicts notions such as duration and boredom as contrasting ideal states of being. Through a poetic and semi-abstract approach, she crafts unique metal and textile sculptures, tapestries, and wearables, invoking different stages of our existence and opening spaces. HOME SWEET HOME delves into the idea of home with a playful twist in the shape of birdhouses, demonstrating how living, care, and beauty come together for both humans and nature. This small but meaningful object is reimagined into creations where material, form, and color reflect the designer’s identity. From ceramics and metal to wood and textiles, some birdhouses appear delicate and precious, others are robust or playful, functional or sculptural. HOME SWEET HOME is curated by Swiss interior stylist and curator Connie Hüsser (@objectwithlove ) 👉 MAD Nieuwe Graanmarkt 10, Brussel Wed–Sat, 11am–6pm 11.03 – 25.04.2026 📸 2, 4, 6 @margotlecoutere

This week-end I showed 2 sunflowers from my new series While You Bloom to Sunset with @spaxprojects alongside other brilliant artists at the exhibition 'The Loft'. Thank you Xavier Gandon for this beautiful exhibition 🙏✨ Photo 3 & 4: Senescence I & Wilting I at "The Loft" expo by @spaxprojects Perched on roundabouts, swaying their heavy heads in the wind, collective in the fields all watching the same direction, silent in vases - they inhabit our daily lives with a familiar and unsettling presence. Dramatic and ever-changing, they reinvent themselves continuously: a solar circle, a tilted head, leaves that wrinkle and fall like hair. In their rhythms, they mirror us, carrying the traces of life.

Hi internet, this is from circa 2021. A project that never left the hard-drive or made it to the stage, but lives on forever via these pics. Music and moves dedicated to grief. I sat and watched @olg.fl & @fatoudiarra.official work for hours, totally mesmerised and teary eyed. Here’s to the art we make that lives just for us. A reminder from me to you to me: make art without worrying so much about the outcome. Just make.
