Man <3 Machine – 25 Years of TextielLab : What happens when craftsmanship and high-tech come together? For 25 years, the TextielLab has been the beating heart of the TextielMuseum: a place where ideas are tested, boundaries are pushed, and craftsmanship and technology go hand in hand. In the anniversary exhibition you will encounter eleven remarkable works created here - each one the result of close collaboration between artists, designers and weaving specialists. 🎥 Video portraits by Karen Ebert @sturmfreifilms bring the stories behind the textiles to life, revealing how experimentation, boldness and collaboration lead to ground-breaking textile innovation. Special thanks to Karen Ebert @SturmfreiFilms , curator Danique Klijs and our TextielLab hero’s Stef & Gerard who are featured in this video. 🔎 Curious? Experience 25 years of innovation up close yourself and discover works by Koen Taselaar @koentaselaar , Aiko Tezuka @aikotezuka , Jan Taminiau @jantaminiau , Aleksandra Gaca @aleksandragaca , Bertjan Pot @bertjanpot , Van Eijk & Van der Lubbe @vevdl , Fransje Gimbrère @fransjegimbrere , Samira Boon @studiosamiraboon , Ursula Wagner @ursulawagnerstudio and Mae Engelgeer @maeengelgeer Man <3 Machine – 25 Years of TextielLab is on view until 11 October 2026. This is Re_Work, Envisions by TextielMuseum.
Our latest sustainable table linnen, inspired by our heritage collection, designed by @envisions.agency and woven at our TextielLab.  Re_Work emerged from an inspiring collaboration between the Eindhoven-based design collective Envisions and the product developers of the TextielLab, drawing on the rich textile heritage of our museum collection.  In 2024, Envisions was invited to design a sustainable table linen collection for #byTextielMuseum, taking inspiration from historical diaper damask — once an everyday fabric: modest in appearance, yet technically refined. Through Re_Work, this timeless textile tradition finds new life in a fresh, contemporary interpretation.  The design process was both experimental and deeply collaborative, resulting in a collection that embodies sustainability in material, production, and use. Together with local partner @spinning_jenny_yarn , specialists in recycled yarns, and our expert makers at the TextielLab, we transformed textile heritage into something beautifully new.  What makes Re_Work truly distinctive is its flexibility: this artwork for your table is available in various sizes and can even be made to measure. Sold by the roll in our TextielShop, it allows you to create the perfect fit for your table.  🔗 For more information and to explore the collection, visit the link in bio.  #ReWork #byTextielMuseum #Envisions #TextielLab #SustainableDesign #DesignCollaboration #TextileInnovation #Tablelinnen

🚨FINAL CALL: visit our Panoramadeck for The Space in Between - free entrance until May 24. We support emerging makers through our Advanced Textile Program (ATP), a ten-week journey where international talents collaborate with experts of the TextielLab, our facilities, and each other. Under the title ‘The Space in Between’, the ten participants of the ATP 2025 present a selection of the work that they developed during the program. 𝟮𝟱 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗟𝗮𝗯 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺𝘁𝗶𝗷𝗱𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗳𝘁! A glimpse into the final day of the 3D Knitting Masterclass with @sarenahuizinga at the TextielLab ✨ Students from @kabk_textile_and_fashion spent the past months exploring the boundaries of industrial knitting, combining hands-on making with in-depth technical, computer-based research focused on developing 3D knitted structures and shapes. A key part of the process was learning how to translate ideas into detailed technical worksheets in Photoshop — drawings that form the foundation for both industrial knitting machines and hand knitting machines. Under the guidance of Sarena from the TextielLab team, these digital designs were transformed into experimental knit outcomes using our specialised machines. Techniques such as short rows, partial knitting and sculptural structures were used to push the limits of shape, texture and construction. The final session marked a moment of reflection and refinement: students presented their work, shared their process, and developed their projects further through in-depth feedback. A selection of moments captures this inspiring exchange of innovation, craftsmanship and textile experimentation 🧶 A special thanks to @keepaneyefoundation for making this Masterclass possible and supporting the next generation of textile designers. @mvsssimo @juliaferdynus @milagalecka @mathildegilcher @Irsmpcom @martinaflowerss @majalchw #Knitting #TextielMuseum #TextielLab

Collectie Lakenhal Leiden
