Cloud Seven @cloudseven.be 7 Quai du Commerce, 1000 Brussels A hybrid space where art and work coexist — home to Frédéric de Goldschmidt’s @frederic_net permanent collection and rotating temporary exhibitions. Exhibition - Is That All There Is? explores a question often raised when encountering a work of art: is something missing, or is there more to perceive? (In some cases, the work is self-sufficient - its materiality, form, and presence offering a complete experience. In others, it appears fragmentary, embedded in an ongoing process or a broader narrative. This question can also extend beyond the artwork itself to touch on wider existential concerns. The curators, Frédéric de Goldschmidt and Grégory Lang @gregorylangsolang , have brought together more than 50 artists from the collection, each offering a singular response. Michail Pirgelis 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘏𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘐𝘐𝘐, 2019 Aluminum, titanium, lacquer 99 × 90 × 5 cm | 39 × 35 3/8 × 2 inches The work of Cologne-based artist Michail Pirgelis (b.1976) begins with fragments taken from aircraft cemeteries in the United States. Here, part of a fuselage — both industrial waste and a remnant of our civilization — is detached from its original function and subtly transformed. Through minimal intervention, Pirgelis abstracts the material, revealing a surface that feels both familiar and difficult to place. A quiet, almost unsettling beauty emerges — a beauty of emptiness, of things lived and lost. Presented on the ground floor of Is 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘈𝘭𝘭 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘐𝘴? next to a mirrored work by Adolf Luther created over fifty years earlier.
