TODAY at 1pm PT/4pm ET on @vpn.radio : ENTER THE SEA SLUGS 🌊🐌 Ahead of our b2b at @gradientcampout next weekend, @agraybe and I wanted to share a recording of a set we played together at a very special @new.palm party last year. That night we were celebrating the release of an EP from our dear friend and collaborator @_j.db_ , and we took the dubby, aquatic nature of his music as a prompt to really *lean in* to those rippling, oceanic sounds. This is something we are often thinking of in our @__.anemone.__ work, but we don’t always get the chance to take things quite so literally. Much talk of various tidepool denizens followed, and we landed on the humble sea slug (sea bunny to be specific) as our muse. I think we succeeded in pulling trax that are as squishy and briny as they are bright and cute. 2026 is flying by—can’t believe we are once again nearing Gradient weekend!!! I’m super jazzed to bring the Max Ellington / @agraybe b2b experience to the desert this year—we’re so eager to share what we’ve been cooking up. Introducing…Anemone at Airliner 💛💚 As the empire burns, we find time to be with each other and sway and spark in gentle clusters. Our First Fridays, bimonthly, series at the @airlinerbar hi-fidelity room upstairs begins in two weeks on the evening of Friday, Feb 6th. We’re kicking off the start with special guests and special buds @naygod and Low @lsurenrene , along with two of our residents @max__ellington and Rachana @chachita666 ! We had so much fun at our anniversary party at Airliner back in Nov and are excited to explore this semi-regular evening there, while expanding our free / low cost gatherings this year - something important to us as we consider what it means to sustain this endeavor and the diy dance music community in LA. In light of the ICE kidnappings and ongoing brutality in Minneapolis, we will also be collecting $$ for mutual aid in the Twin Cities. Our trusted bud and Anemone DJ alumna @laurynxlesley (Venmo: @laurynlesley ) is collecting donations to disperse to folks who need PPE, first aid, legal funds, etc on the ground there.
