TODAY at 1pm PT/4pm ET on @vpn.radio : ENTER THE SEA SLUGS 🌊🐌 Ahead of our b2b at @gradientcampout next weekend, @agraybe and I wanted to share a recording of a set we played together at a very special @new.palm party last year. That night we were celebrating the release of an EP from our dear friend and collaborator @_j.db_ , and we took the dubby, aquatic nature of his music as a prompt to really *lean in* to those rippling, oceanic sounds. This is something we are often thinking of in our @__.anemone.__ work, but we don’t always get the chance to take things quite so literally. Much talk of various tidepool denizens followed, and we landed on the humble sea slug (sea bunny to be specific) as our muse. I think we succeeded in pulling trax that are as squishy and briny as they are bright and cute. I hope you’ll enjoy listening back to this set, and that you’ll join us on our upcoming aqueous exploration in the desert next weekend at Gradient. Link to tix in bio. The Baptist and Oso Feo’s sets are iconic, leaving dancers chirping and dreaming about them seasons after. Their kindred spirit, intentional sound, and friendship is closely aligned with the Anemone ethos. Event Details: Location: The Airliner // Lincoln Heights Date: Friday, April 10 Time: 8pm to 1am FREE Artwork by @saishk___ ~~~ Joan (she/her) is a DJ, producer, and is a devoted presence in the Bay Area underground. Sonically rooted in Acid, Progressive House, Breaks, Trance, and Techno, she collects widely and plays with purpose. Her sets balance euphoria with introspection, held together by emotional intentionality and unshakeable optimism. Every set is a communion — equal parts sweat, spirit, and sound — she will deliver you. The Baptist believes the DJ and the dancefloor are in equal communion — the congregation just as sacred as the music that binds them. Her mixes have been featured by Honcho, Double Virgo, SutroFM,, Massive, and HydeFM, all of which are available for listening on her SoundCloud. Joan is also a co-founder of Bay Area party collective Prerogative. Oso Feo is a true advocate for the underground and lives by an ethos of building and uplifting freaks of all kinds. He is half of curation and management for the online radio station and studio SutroFM, which provides a platform for both new and experienced DJs to share their music through radio shows, and live broadcasts. He has also organized renegades as Cultivated Frequencies (FKA Cult Freq) with his spiritual Brother Banal. Oso’s style is described as “TexMex ravescapes infused with lush Bay breakage.”
