I’m so incredibly grateful for and proud of my team. They were phenomenal and … if I can say so myself… a force to be reckoned with. We planned, we discussed and we absolutely executed! 🫶🏼
The race was fast and furious from the gun. As a team we were aggressive - with the intention of trying to get something away early. A counter attack from me on Smitswinkel ended up being the move to split the race. The front bunch consisted of almost all of the race favourites - to say the pace was hot is an understatement. A few attempts from ladies to get away but nothing stuck and fortunately for me I managed to get over the line first in a bunch sprint.
An extra special mention to my manager /very good friend @lincmjking who always believes in me more than anyone else ❤️

- What an honour to be at the start line with so many strong women! 💜
From the first climb the group split fairly quickly and I found myself in the second group on the road- initially we yo-yo’d off the front group getting distanced on hard ascents and technical descents.
Once we had completely split and established our second group we started working together well. I then decided to take a lekker 10m slide on a loose steep corner… With 150km still to go it took a lot for me to regather myself and get back on the bike ❤️
I’m so glad I did persevere because the rest of the race was incredible - I found a strong bunch of ladies to roll with until the end! Maybe not necessarily the result I had hoped for but definitely achieved my goal of “embracing it”.
The field and level of racing is so high and I can’t wait to be back next year! (Will have to work on my skills and do a little bit of mountain biking before then 🤭)

This setup was fast and furious on the #propergravel ;) and tar roads but also coped very well with technical descents. Managed all 6 stages with zero punctures and no technical issues which I am extremely grateful for - plugging tyres, changing tubes and any sort of bike maintenance is my biggest downfall 🤣💅🏼
Time to go and see what this baby can do on our next adventure 😜 ✈️

Garden-Route Giro 2026 💜
A week of everything - long days in the saddle, intense racing, beautiful roads, and so many unforgettable moments in between. More than anything, it was a week of laughter, friendships, and the kind of memories that go far beyond the racing itself.
There were tough days and plenty of lessons along the way, but that’s all part of the journey - and make the smiles, the breakthroughs, and the shared moments even more meaningful. 🫶🏼

Stage 6 of the @gardenroutegiro 🤝🏻
@taylorchick told me after stage 5 that after a really bad day comes a really good day. At the time I didn’t believe her … but I can now see how it is possible. Once you’ve gone to some seriously dark places within yourself it can only go up from there.
Stage 6 was a beautiful one. 7 passes between Knysna and Wilderness. After the first 10 minute climb I found myself in a great group of men that I’d been lucky enough to ride with for majority of the week. From there it was about managing my effort to get to the line and making sure nothing catastrophic happened. Mission accomplished. ✔️

Stage 5 - The Queen Stage @gardenroutegiro
Today was really really tough.
Felt absolutely empty. I actually get a bit emotional thinking about it… it was a proper mental game to get myself through the gruelling 123km route. Found myself in a really great group of a few people including @taylorchick and @kentmain . So grateful for these people for helping me to push through.
@marielletrouwborst came in first, @vera_looser in second, @taylorchick in third, myself in fourth and @catherine__kruger in fifth.
GC standings remain the same but have lost afew minutes to @marielletrouwborst and @vera_looser .

Tomorrow is the final stage as we head over the 7 passes towards Wilderness. Anything can happen 🤞🏼
