XCM World Champion 😭❤️🌈 Seven years ago I won a world title on Swiss soil in the XCO. It skyrocketed my career and changed my life in many ways. It made me believe anything was possible. Today, I pulled on the rainbow jersey for the second time in my career - this time in the marathon discipline. This was one of the hardest and most unexpected races of my career. 77 miles and 16k of climbing with so many ups and downs, including the flat tire I rode for the last 20 minutes of the race. From start to finish this experience and race was a gift. And one I got to share with the people who matter most ❤️ Thank you for those who kept giving me reasons to believe 🌈✨ We sent it! Leadville 100 in 6:48:55 😭✨ In the first year that this historic @leadvilleraceseries event had a livestream, a women’s only start and a strict no drafting policy, we had two female American riders go sub 7 hours for the first time - breaking a record set 10 years ago by @annika.langvad who I consider to be the greatest marathon mountain bike racer of all time. We did it on a day when at the start, I was almost certain the record would be impossible - between the smoke, wind and dry trail conditions. I rode alone for more than three hours of this race with no visibility on time gaps - and if I hadn’t thought Melisa might catch me until the very end, I don’t think I would have gone that fast. It was only when I pulled onto the boulevard that I realized I still had time to fight for the record. My face this week vs my face last week 😂 I needed a little extra rest and so I gave it to myself (file under: growth). Sad to miss the @heroucimarathonworldcup that I had planned to be at in Elba! Thank you @levisgranfondo for such a wild weekend of racing! 🤠 My day started out pretty rough and got even rougher when I was dropped on the second climb… but I never gave up and step by step I rode myself back into the fight! I’m super proud of this 🥉 and even more so because of what it took to stay in the game for 137 miles when my body wasn’t quite having it. Thank you @lollyis_lauren for being our carrot (congrats!) and to @hayleypreen and @sofithevilla for being a fun, hard working chase group all the way to the line. It’s always too soon to give up! For the love of it ✨ I did my first bike race ever at Ford Ord with @norcalleague my freshman year of high school. Nine years later I was back to race XCO in the rainbow jersey. And yesterday, I got a chance to race the rainbows again in XCM. Nothing is more special than the opportunity to compete on the trails and in front of the community that shaped my career from that very first start line. Pressure makes diamonds 💎 Had a blast mixing it up in my first big gravel race at @seaotterclassic ! The women’s race was super fast and dynamic and it’s cool to experience first hand how the level, coverage, and support keeps rising at these events.
