My 4th trip to the Olympics is wrapped at the 25th Winter Olympic Games. With it wraps my 3 year contract with the CBC Olympics as Creative Lead. We designed, developed and executed thousands of features, told hundreds of athletes stories and hopefully made everyone at home feel like they knew these incredible humans, some of the best of us, better. It was never easy but it was always worthwhile. It was the honour of a lifetime to ride shotgun with Team Canada on behalf of CBC. There will be decks and presentations and blah blah blah that really flex the measurable success of all the things our team made, but for me what I’ll always consider the true success, will be the trust these athletes gave us. Trust in not just their celebratory moments but their vulnerable moments. The injuries, the rehabs, the losses and the lows. The quiet moments with themselves and the loud moments with their families. Their hopes and their fears. The trust to tell their stories in a dramatic, meaningful and honest way before they took the largest stage in the world. Veni, vidi, vici Thank you, Merci, Grazie, Спасибо, 감사합니다

Season 2 of “Making Canada’s Team” is live today and what an absolute honour / thrill it was to write and direct it. A year of prep, production and post finally ready to share. All punctuated with an incredible narration by @itsrickmercer (which is also surreal for me) Our efforts pale in comparison to those of our subjects though. In an increasingly “media trained” word they really, really, really laid themselves bare to me, to our cameras and to the country. The International Olympic Committee awards its “Olympic Golden Rings” for the best television, film and social media content pertaining to each annual Olympiad. For Paris 2024, I’ve been awarded a silver medal in “Best Director” for our 6-part doc series “Make or Break”. Making me TECHNICALLY an Olympic medalist 😉 ( @phyliciageorge ) It’s the highest honour of my professional career and an acknowledgment not thought remotely possible when we first began developing it. 19 months of preparation, 3 weeks feet on the ground, countless memories. It’s such a special privilege to be part of this team. A dream come true (again) in a life already blessed. In a world so silo’d, it’s a remarkable feat to recreate the monoculture of old and share a collective consciousness. The 2024 Paris Summer Olympics did that. To celebrate human ambition and achievement, country and culture, all in the shadow of Paris incredible history and architecture. I am awe struck. To play a role in helping bring these stories to life back abroad and with our national broadcaster is something I cherish and stand upon proudly. I am fulfilled. Canada’s greatest summer Olympics, at the greatest summer Olympics to date… Je suis bien dans ma peau. June 2009, 15 years ago. Somewhere that used to be the middle of nowhere. A place I shot hundreds of hours of video was best to shoot my first reels of film. Make something this summer that keeps it memorable. My grandpa and noni look so sharp.

An honour and a thrill to create with @jamesbaymusic this past August. An absolute champion of collaboration, James & Team approached an impossibly packed shooting day with aplomb and energy. Creatively cramming in 2 separate music video shoots between load in, soundcheck & a raucous sold out show. This was only possible because @scottiewat @mitchbarnes_ @aaronsambeyfilm are the nimblest, tightest and most talented goons in the game. Repeatedly adjusting on the fly to capture a new scene. James, Republic Records & Mercury Records were unbelievable creative partners through this and were so open and amenable to all our wild ideas, while working with us to manage parameters of what was possible. This is was immensely satisfying, both in execution and reflection. Thank you so much for creating with me.

On this, the eve of @polarismusicprize I want to wish an extra special congratulations to shortlister @_aysanabee_ on an unbelievable 2023. We've collaborated a few times now, but our Canada Day together at @objx.studio banging out a variety of cuts, with multiple themes and formatting was especially memorable. Evan, his band and his team at @ishkoderecords are total stars and we kept almost every first take, live off the floor. Flowers are also due for the incredible team working alongside me that day. The most nimble, skillful and dedicated crew going. @scottiewat unbelievable vision, unmatched skill @mitchbarnes_ the ultimate steady hand & on-set emotional support @aaronsambeyfilm the definitive swiss army knife.
