Milano Cortina 2026 āļø Exhausted and filled with gratitude. Heading home with a new collection of memories and stories to share. Energized by the athleticism and excellence displayed by the Paralympians. Clear about this next chapter. Thankful for those who have allowed me to step onto these stages, allowing me opportunities of growth and self-discovery.
From starry, starry nights to stunning plot twists, the Olympics provided spectacular swings of emotion. And in victory and defeat, moments of glory and sadness, the athletes showed grace and poise. Iāve never covered an event quite like this. That challenged me in unimaginable ways. These Games reminded us all of our own hopes and dreams. Unfinished business. And desire to just keep trying. Thatās my takeaway from Milano Cortina 2026. That at any given moment we have the choice to change our course and reimagine our stories of success. What a gift. Exhausted. Grateful. Onwards.

Still processing it all. And will for a while. But my heart is full and Iām so proud of this moment. Hosting the Olympic Opening Ceremony alongside the incomparable @arsenaultadrienne on CBC. I would have never believed this all watching my first Olympics in 1998. Here we are. Over to the athletes now, who will once again rally and inspire our nation and provide us memories for a lifetime. Let the Games begin. #Olympics #Canada #Gold
This is 39 and feeling fine. Itās been an extraordinary last year, the most consequential year of my life. I got married. Covered 6 world championships. Lost one of my best friends. Became an uncle again. Traveled around the world. Joined The Curling Group. Burned myself out. Laughed. Cried. Started to understand in a different way how finite this all is. And that the things I thought mattered, didnāt. I feel like Iām on the edge of a shift, only realized through all the experiences I was afforded this past year. And only made possible by the people Iāve met along the way. My heart is full as I celebrate my first birthday as a husband, appreciate family and friendship in a different way and as I look forward to a year of personal growth and evolution that includes health and abundance, patience and kindness and a lot of love for myself and those I respect and care for.

The Olympics first came to life for me in 1998. I was back home in Saskatoon watching Sandra Schmirler and her Saskatchewan curling team win gold for Canada in Nagano, Japan. It was thrilling. People from my home province were on the world stage winning at the highest level. And I saw the way it brought us all together. That moment was transformative for me and has instructed my storytelling throughout my career. At its best, sport unites in a way not much else can and does. You can imagine then how truly incredible and special it is for me to share Iām hosting the Olympics Opening Ceremony with CBC Chief Correspondent @arsenaultadrienne this February. We are exactly 100 days out for the Games and I couldnāt be more excited and honoured to be covering another Olympics. Iām so grateful to all those who helped fuel and support my dreams. And thinking of little me in Saskatoon all those years ago who could have never imagined this for his life. What a gift.
