The completion and opening of Cowper Street Housing, Glebe marks an important milestone for social housing in NSW. Opened today by @chrisminnsmp , Premier of NSW, and @rosebjackson , Minister for Housing, the project renews an established social housing site to deliver 75 new social homes—almost a 300% increase—while improving amenity, accessibility and integration within one of Sydney’s most established inner‑city neighbourhoods. Designed by JPW for Homes NSW and @kingstrustaustralia , with @kaneconstructions as design and build contractor and @groupgsa as delivery architect, Cowper Street demonstrates how density can be added thoughtfully and sustainably without losing what makes places work. Two eight‑storey towers and a row of terrace housing address MJ Doherty Reserve, responding carefully to Glebe’s heritage character through materiality, form and scale. Sustainability and longevity were central to the project’s design. The fully electric development uses a low‑embodied carbon CLT structure clad in durable brick, incorporates rooftop gardens, solar power, generous communal open space and appropriate landscaping, and targets a 6‑Star Green Star rating—the first for a fully electric social housing project of this nature. Approaching first occupancy from April 2026, Cowper Street Housing reflects a long‑term commitment to amenity, liveability and community, and shows how well‑designed, enduring architecture can support stronger, more connected neighbourhoods over time. A decade on, Barangaroo Reserve continues to demonstrate the power of design to restore, reconnect, and transform Sydney’s harbour edge. Designed by @pwpla in association with JPW, the project respects Country while reshaping a former industrial site into a place for people, nature, and culture. The people of Sydney and visitors to the city have embraced the Reserve, exploring its vast open space and frequenting its remarkable and ever-changing program of events and recreational possibilities. Our involvement across the precinct has given us a deep understanding of Barangaroo’s history, complexity, and how its component parts work together to form one of the most vital precincts of Sydney. That knowledge continues to shape how we think about this remarkable site and the opportunities it continues to offer. Festival Tower, by Walker Corporation, has been awarded the 2025 UDIA SA Award for Excellence in Sustainability. Designed by JPW as part of the Adelaide Festival Plaza precinct, the tower is Adelaide’s largest all-electric office building and sets a new benchmark for environmental performance in the commercial sector. Achieving a 6 Star Green Star rating and targeting 5.5 Star NABERS Energy, the project incorporates rooftop solar, comprehensive rainwater harvesting, low-tox materials, and over 90% recycled construction waste. Beyond technical performance, Festival Tower demonstrates how sustainability, commercial value, and workplace wellbeing can work in unison. At ground level, it connects directly to the revitalised public realm, linking Station Road with King William Road, and reinforcing the precinct’s role as a vibrant civic destination. Congratulations to @walkercorporation and the broader project team on this recognition, celebrating a building that redefines what sustainable city making can achieve. @built.construction @bestec.com.au @mottmacgroup @4dworkshop @prism_facades @dsquaredconstruct #JPW #Adelaide #citymaking #architecture #architectureaustralia #urbandesign #commercialarchitecture #placemaking #tallbuildings #festivaltower #festivalsquare #urbanrenewal #sustainabledesign #greenbuilding

The Cowper Street Social Housing project in Glebe is nearing completion, set to deliver 75 new homes that thoughtfully integrate heritage preservation with contemporary design. The development includes two eight-storey towers and a three-storey terrace building, offering a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom residences. Sustainability is central to this project, which is targeting a 6 Star Green Star rating and high NatHERS ratings. Innovative features include the use of cross-laminated timber (CLT) for the primary structure, green roofs, solar power, water retention systems, and extensive landscaping. These elements not only reduce the environmental footprint but also promote resident wellbeing and community connection. With our client Homes NSW and with the support of the @kingstrustaustralia this project exemplifies how sustainable design can enhance social housing outcomes. Festival Plaza Tower 2 has received Development Approval — a major milestone for the final stage of this important precinct. Designed by JPW for @walkercorporation the 38-storey, 160-metre tower will complete the Festival Plaza redevelopment, reinforcing the Riverbank Precinct as a key destination for business, culture and public life in Adelaide. This will be Adelaide’s first skyscraper and builds on the success of Festival Tower (T1), also designed by JPW, which redefined commercial design in the city with a strong focus on workplace quality and wellbeing. Together, the two towers form a unified, contemporary and contextual response to this landmark site. Tower 2 introduces a range of publicly accessible spaces, sustainable retail, and a new civic facility, expanding the precinct’s social and cultural role. Its geometry responds to the shifting Adelaide grid and the forms of the neighbouring Festival Centre and plaza, subtly referencing the state’s floral emblem, Sturt’s Desert Pea. Set to be Adelaide’s most sustainable commercial building, Tower 2 will be the first in the city to achieve a 6 Star NABERS Energy rating, and the largest all-electric office tower in South Australia, featuring the city’s biggest solar array and targeting carbon neutrality by 2028. Congratulations to Walker Corporation on this next chapter in the ongoing revitalisation of Festival Plaza. @built.construction @aspectstudios @hoskingwillisarchitecture @prism_facades @4dworkshop @bestec.com.au @wga_ausnz @ndygroup #JPW #FestivalPlaza #Adelaide #Architecture #Placemaking #Sustainability #CityShaping #CommercialDesign #PublicSpaces #Skyscraper #DesignInnovation

33 Alfred Street is officially complete! The top-to-bottom renewal, more than 10 years in the making, has revitalised Sydney's first skyscraper, opening the building up to the vibrant precinct and harbour views while staying true to its unique and iconic identity. The development sets an important precedent for the sensitive renewal and adaptive reuse of our Modernist heritage to meet the demands of the sustainable contemporary workplace and will now host some of Sydney's top legal practices and investment banks. JPW, in collaboration with Walker Corporation, is pleased to share that the Development Application for Tower 2 at Festival Plaza in Adelaide has been lodged. Designed by JPW, this 38-storey tower will complete Festival Plaza, shaping a vibrant, contextual, and contemporary destination. The project will enhance public life, introducing a diverse range of public spaces activated by sustainable retail, reinforcing Festival Plaza as a key destination for both locals and visitors. A publicly accessible civic facility and high-quality commercial space will further contribute to the precinct’s activation. The tower’s geometry responds to the transition from the city grid to the river, drawing from the dynamic, angular forms of the Festival Centre and Festival Plaza while subtly referencing the state flower, Sturt’s Desert Pea. At 160m, Tower 2 will be Adelaide’s first skyscraper when completed in 2027, marking a significant milestone in the city’s evolving skyline. Congratulations to Walker Corporation on the continued revitalisation of this important precinct. @walkercorporation @aspectstudios @ekisticsplananddesign @hoskingwillisarchitecture @prism_facades @4dworkshop @bestec.com.au @wga_ausnz @ndygroup @adelaidefestivaltower #JPW #FestivalPlaza #Adelaide #UrbanDesign #Architecture #Placemaking #Sustainability #CityShaping #CommercialDesign #PublicSpaces #Skyscraper #DesignInnovation

JPW Director Matthew Morel and Principal Matteo Salval led a tour of 1 Elizabeth - the newly completed Macquarie Group headquarters. 1 Elizabeth is integrated with both the Sydney Metro Martin Place Station below and the heritage 50 Martin Place building, creating an expansive campus. Attendees had a unique opportunity to see a future-focussed workplace close-up and enjoy great views over the city and the harbour beyond. The presentation explored the project's journey from inception to delivery including the reinstatement of heritage artworks and new public art commissions. We thank Macquarie for welcoming the group and the Australian Institute of Architects, as well as the attendees for their engaging interaction throughout the event. A special thanks to our Martin Place Metro North Tower team members Jade Tran, Jacopo Scattolin, Vy Pham, Ben Rowbotham and Wayne Dickerson for helping on the night, and to Oliver Ju for capturing the event images. @macquariegroup @1_elizabeth_sydney @institute_architects_aus #Architecture #design #FutureFocusedWorkplace #Sydney #HeritageAndInnovation
