erm jk i could only fit june to october in this post - this year was very full: - met one of my new fav artists mei semones!! - made a multimedia piece for brenda’s zine - successfully did the 48 hour film project with a group of friends on the hottest day of the whole year - got to photograph an event for UNRWA & motaz azaiza - hosted a queer villains party for pride month - went to people’s pride and tabled with A4P - had the most delicious & beautiful kamayan/boodle fight - dressed up for an inside out party - did social media & photography for the short film “what we become after” - started kali training - reunited with mai, did costumes for her film “swelt” - went to trans camp with my besties - ran a relational organizing workshop with A4P - got into THREE more film fests: flip the script queer film fest, appalachian queer film fest, & seattle trans underground film fest - met some new friends & went dancing :D ok one more post to wrap up the year i promise

So happy that “97” has already been screened at Seoul Film Festival (Seoul) @seoulshortfilmfestival , Video Art and Experimental Film Festival (New York) @vaeff , and Flip the Script – Queer Film Festival (USA) @flipthescriptfest “97” is a performative art film based on a same-titled poem, combining monologue and physical theatre. It creates a vulnerable space for reflection and release, confronting the trauma of witnessing death and exploring the uncontrollability of loss, war, and love. The starting point for “97” was a deeply personal need to reflect on and release the traumatic events of the last years: the first explosion I heard, the first death I witnessed, and the love I’ve lost. These events are interconnected—they trigger the same internal patterns and lead to a breaking point, when one can no longer look away and must confront and reconstruct deep psychological mechanisms. Though rooted in personal experience, the film also touches upon collective trauma and the destructive impact of war: the awareness of becoming a target, the injustice of loss, dealing with the grief and the guilt over what cannot be controlled. This was the passion project we created with soul friends as soon as we were able to get vaccinated coming out of the Covid pandemic.
