🌈✨Collective Spotlight - Bry Gallagher & Sara Werner (The Wives)✨🌈 This week we’re celebrating the filmmaking wives & creative team Sara & Bry. 💕 An award-winning duo dedicated to amplifying LGBTQIA+ voices on screen. Together, they’ve brought us shorts like 2 Weeks, Homecoming, and the festival-favorite Girlfriend Girlfriend, with its sequel Wife Wife headed into production this fall! 🎬💍 And they’re busy: 🎟 Girlfriend Girlfriend is screening at 12 festivals in the next two months. LA locals can catch it 10/5 at Hollywood Queer Short Film Festival and 10/11 at Hollywood Park Film Festival. New Yorkers, don’t miss it 10/11 at NewFest’s Dyke Night. 📸 Plus, Sara’s photography will be featured in the Queer exhibition Lost and Found at the Los Angeles Center of Photography (Oct 2 – Nov 6), focused on preserving marriage equality. We are still glowing from the Final Day of Frameline49 and the second screening of “Girlfriend Girlfriend”! We cannot thank @framelinefest enough for the honor of opening “The Fun In Shorts Program”, screening alongside so many amazing films! Thank you to Lead Shorts Programmer @kristalsotomayor for the incredible introduction, Q&A and for working with @reassurance to program our film! Thank you Kris Fleming and the rest of the amazing hospitality team for making the Mission and @roxie_theater feel like our second home! Thank you to the volunteers, especially, @midnightfairy808 and @williamouuu , who helped remind us why we make art to unite folxs! We got the best present after the screening; as we left the @roxie_theater the @sfdykemarch was passing by us- perfect timing! We jumped in and marched up to the Castro seeing all the queer history and heroes that inspire our art. 🫶Team GFGF can’t wait until we get to share “Girlfriend Girlfriend” with audiences again soon ✨✂️👑✂️✨ 📸: @barakshramaphotography 🙏 for the incredible photos throughout the fest!

@framelinefest thank you for such an incredible festival experience! Amazing to watch @gfgf_a_very_queer_film premiere on the big screen @roxie_theater . Truly honored to share space with so many incredible films. We need queer cinema more now than ever and I can’t wait for all these films to make their way out into the world! I am so grateful that I get to make art with my wife @seawerner - and eternally grateful to our extensive network of family, friends (new and old), and supporters!

Today marks the 10 year anniversary of Obergefell v. Hodges- the landmark Supreme Court decision that ensured same-sex couples could marry in all 50 States. We got engaged in March of 2024. We wanted to take our time with our engagement and enjoy the moment- but as it became apparent Trump would be back in office once again we made a quick plan to elope in December of 2024. Many folks told us we were overreacting; same-sex marriage is constitutionally protected. But we have watched this court overturn almost 50 years of protections for women (Roe v. Wade) and attack the trans community (United States v. Skrmetti). All Americans deserve the same freedoms and protections - you should not be treated as less than on a state to state basis. Beyond that all human beings in this country should be treated with dignity- documented or not. The world is figuratively and literally on fire. There is no overreacting, we cannot get comfortable or complacent. But we also need to remember to celebrate. Joy is resistance. On Friday the 13th of June 2025 Sara and Bry celebrated their marriage (again) in Los Angeles. We are so grateful to our family, friends, and the community who have supported us through the years. It really does take a village.
