Having lived her life in the city, she’s seen a bit of each side of the Emerald City’s underground - shiny, although typically due to the perpetual slick of rain. Presently, she finds herself immersed in the dance music scene. In just over a year, her party @joosed.seattle has become a favorite monthly all-locals affair, featuring some of the city’s deepest heads and finest dolls. Sugarpea🍭 Co-Operator of Seattle’s @heavy_sounds_seattle soundsystem, and Managerial Confectioner of Sweet Treat, Heavy Sounds’ sublabel, @sugarpea.sweety is the primary alias of the Jet City’s Paris Siris. While Sugarpea and The Delectables are the channels for Paris’s more recent UKG releases, such as last year’s vinyl only The Reward. Previous collaborations under monikers Gruidae Gang, JamRat, and Mycelium Mustard all offer a more broadly developed understanding of soundsystem theory. Paris leaves few things to wonder. This is further evidenced by the attention to detail required to independently operate a rig like that of Heavy Sounds on a DIY basis. Paris and the rest of the Heavy Sounds team, along with the speakers they operate, have become a central beam in the foundation of the Seattle scene, demonstrating what a key element the soundsystem is in the underground. My contribution to @canyonvibration 2025. An invocation of peace and catharsis. A moment of reverence to honor the land just after the first sundown of the festival. This is a love letter to those feeling heavy at times while carrying themselves through the world with compassion these days. I spent months crying along to these pieces while commuting, digging through records all over the city, carefully seeking tracks with overlap in narrative in sound and title, experimenting with orchestration of vinyl and tape. A special thank you to my friend @spiney.bone.spines , whose guided meditation was unfortunately not captured in this recording, but in the moment couldn't have been more perfect. Thank you also to the indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest, whose words and music are featured heavily throughout this mix. Thank you to the organic wisdom of our animal family, specifically the birds and orcas whose songs tie this all together. If my heart could sing, if my soul could offer yours a salve, this is what it would sound like.
