soft systems is the first exhibition from @local.memory , a new artist-led series platforming emerging voices from the bay area.
across installations, objects, and media works, soft systems resists optimization and spectacle, and instead centers memory, ritual, and belief as core structures of the digital self. from intimate gestures to shared acts of care, these works map how such systems take shape within our collective experience.

Chris Giang ( @exteeng ) is a multimedia sensory artist and data scientist based in Oakland, CA. Her practice weaves together tea, flowers, incense, and handmade ceramics, expanding into sound design that is centered around audio narrative. Exploring the tenderness embedded in the terrain of the ordinary, she infuses a spirit of experimentation and deconstruction. Her soundscape work is built with the ethos of experimentation; crushing pop culture, interrupting its form, and reconfiguring it into frenetic expressions of the heart.
By blending auditory, tactile, and visual elements, Chris creates immersive sensory experiences that invite presence and reflection. She is currently expanding her work through iterative explorations in spatial design and interdisciplinary collaboration, continuing to reshape how sensory language is experienced and understood.
