“What fields cannot gather” is an interactive installation using @p5xjs that splits a participant between two views: One collaging their face and body with form fields scraped from official immigration forms used in the pathway to naturalization, citizenship, and sponsorship. The other superimposing their figure onto a montage of memories and moments of humanity that resist validation by data. One side presents yourself reduced to checkboxes and form fields scraped from official U.S. immigration forms used in the pathways to citizenship and naturalization. The other side reveals what applications cannot measure: moments of existence that make up our humanity. Who decides what data predetermine human worth?
